Looks like Mr Rutans first competitor is getting squared away for some flying!

Here are the payloads slated for flight:

Three-Dimensional Critical Wetting Experiment in Microgravity by principal investigator, Stephen Collicott, of Purdue University.

Microgravity Experiment on Dust Environments in Astrophysics (MEDEA), to be done under the eye of Joshua Colwell of the University of Central Florida.

Effective lnterfacial Tension lnduced Convection (EITIC), with the principal investigator identified as John Pojman of Louisiana State University.

Look here for complete story.

...what... you guys don't like space ships?

New Shepard is essentially the descendant of the Delta Clipper, as a fair number of the old DC-X team went to Blue Origin, and the overall design concept is quite similar.

I'm of the opinion that DC-X and its progeny need to be shoved in NASA's face for the "NIH" treatment it got. Dissing it for X-33 and X-34 when DC-X was already flying was a severe setback for economical spaceflight.

DC-X still has the turnaround record of 26 hours between flights.
