Ha, I still have that habit from my first typing class. I think the BBS converts us to one space so no one notices. 
I use to be a two-space man, but the Navy journalist school beat it out of me.

It's not the BBS specifically; that's part of the HTML standard. The two spaces are still there (which you can check by quoting a post), but a webpage will only display one. I use a plugin on my WordPress site to force the display of the second space by turning them into . Six bytes to display one.
