I'm a little behind the times; I only learned about Bloom County's return a moment ago when I discovered this thread. Even though I was too young to get most of the political humor during its initial run, it was always one of my favorite comic strips. It's probably safe to say that Berke Brethed's style influenced my own artistic sensibilities at least a little bit. Bloom County may even have helped get me into Star Trek- years before I started watching the show, some of the strips I was most captivated by were the ones in which they pretended Cutter John's wheelchair was the Enterprise and Opus was Mr. Spock.
