"Bloom County" to return

It goes without saying that I hate navigating the awkward Facebook interface. I wish he'd at least put it on GoComics or something.
:

Yes. At the very least we should be able to sign up for email notifications or something. I'm one of his followers on Facebook but I still don't always know a new one is up.

It's not every day you see a penguin compare his nose to a traditional Jewish bread. That, friends, is satirical cartoon entertainment at its finest.

With one or two exceptions, he's been posting them at the exact same time (albeit not necessarily everyday): 7am EST.

Technology enables Steve Dallas' bad habits.

Yeah, I just check every evening, but there's got to be a better way than freakin' Facebook.
The timing is good for me because it's released right after I get back from lunch.

I understand why he does it with Facebook: He knows his largest audience is there. True, there could be an alternative with Gocomics.com or somewhere else, but Facebook is the best platform to reach a lot of people.

And no doubt the easiest and most cost-effective way for him as well. Facebook is basically a free service. Scan something and post it. No editors or staff to run something by. No fees to pay to post material. Guaranteed audience of millions around the world.

It's pretty much a win-win, really.

He doesn't even scan them. He posted a photo the day before the strip returned which showed him drawing entirely on his Mac.

Except that I don't see how he monetizes the strip through Facebook.

I know that not everybody's out to make a buck but at some point, if he's not monetizing it, it could be a money loser in which case he might stop doing it

I'm sure he's not hurting for money. I don't know the numbers, but I think the complete collections for Bloom County, Outland and Opus made good money and this month the complete collection of Academia Waltz will be released.

And depending on how long this current run goes, I bet we'll see another complete collection sometime down the road.

I was about to say, I'm sure we'll be able to buy these in book form at some point.

Better late to the party than never. I was in canyons and mountains when this most joyous and welcome news came out. But, alas, there always has to be a Dandy Lion with No Fluffers. I am one of the 3 people on the planet who do not have FacePalm, SpyLife, NoPrivacy, oh, no, sorry, FaceBook.

Crap on Crackers.

Ah, well, The StarChair Enterpoop will have to warp out of the meadow without me.

Still, good to know the Bastions of Bloom County are alive and well. And I sure cannot blame Berkely for the medium (Extra Large) he chose to bring Opus and Milo and the rest back to us.

You don't have to be on facebook to see the comics. try clicking on the links in this thread.

Thanks, sojourner. Do you know if that strategy will continue to work/refresh going forward. Gee, it was good to see that! :techman:
