News Bloom County coming to FOX

This maybe should have gone in TV and Media instead.

At any rate, this won't be Bill and Opus' first time in animation. There was the Outland Christmas Special, A Wish for Wings That Work back in 1991.

Yeah, Fox is Disney these days.
I'm amazed it's taken this long to get a series.

While I'm actually pretty jazzed by this announcement, I'm also strangely cautious of it. Voice casting will be EVERYTHING. Will they sound like what I've envisioned in my head for the last 40 years .... ?

(* I vote for Charlie Sheen to be the voice of Steve Dallas * )

Yeah, Charlie Sheen or bust.

But great point in general. My whole world could be shattered because Milo and Binkley and Oliver sound completely different from how I've heard them my entire life.

I have an idea that we're all going to find out that Berke's thoughts on what the voices should sound like are a lot different than we think. But I do like the Charlie Sheen idea for Steve Dallas.

My favorite character growing up was always Milo. He always seemed to act older than his age, so even though he's a kid, I'd like him to have an adult voice.

Is Charlie Sheen still a complete disaster, or has he managed to clean himself up?

Michael Bell, who voiced Opus in the A Wish For Wings That Work Christmas special, is still with us at 83. Breathed's original choice for Opus, Sterling Holloway, died the year after the Christmas special aired.

I have a VHS tape of that and it was hard to find!

I gave my brother A Wish for Wings on VHS for Christmas in the 90s. He and I would shout, mimicking Robin Williams, "She left me for an al-bee-tross! An al-bee-tross!" at each other back and forth like loons. :)

I found it on DVD at Big Lots before the pandemic for like three bucks. Best three bucks I ever spent. :)

I got to interview Breathed a few years ago, and it's a treasured moment.

You wouldn't happen to have a link to that interview, would you?

I do! It's here. I had a dozen more questions, but I only had fifteen minutes, so I went with the ones that I felt were best for promoting his Bloom County revival collection.

The answer to the last question doesn't exactly capture the tone in pixels. Think more like dandelion snorting.
