The Herald Sun newspaper has assembled a panel of three "geeks" to judge sci-fi and fantasy films. They are blogging live at 12:30pm Melbourne time, which is about 17 minutes from when this is posted.

You are free to put down your thoughts and argue with their opinions.

Here is a brief snippet of what they each said:

Star Trek doesn't quite know what it wants to be. It has been touted as a reboot, a chance for a new generation to jump on the Trekkie bandwagon with no knowledge of the universe, and yet a good chunk of the jokes rely on - you guessed it - knowledge of the characters.

Star Trek fans will love it. Everyone else will wonder what the fuss is about. File next to Dolph Lundgren's The Punisher and Ang Lee's The Hulk.

If you're a Star Trek fan of old you'll enjoy this (for reasons I can't explain without offering spoilers). If you're new to the Enterprise, it lets you in on the ground floor, and that's what the studio wants, right? Beam me up!
