Bleach - Anime Disscussion (Spoilers)

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I'm not saying it's a bad thing that the show has such long battles, but it does tend to hurt it's overall momentum when the filler material gets thrown in for no good reason.

I like Bleach, and like Baerbel Haddrell says, I can think of ways in which the story could go on for years... however the problem with this type of Anime is that by continuing to ramp up power levels, they start limiting the sorts of threats that our characters can face without smacking them down instantly or have the audience wondering where this uber-foe has been hiding all these years?

If they continue to explore the mythology of the show (As in the Vizard flashbacks) or show us more of what we've yet to see (The Royal Family, Squad Zero, etc.) then I'm on board.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Well, at least Bleach hasn't become as repetitive as Dragonball Z or Inu Yasha did. However, in my experience it's proven fact that the longer an anime runs the more stale it becomes and the deeper the grave it digs for itself.

I'm more partial to shorter series that conclude a story in 26 episodes or so and don't overstay their welcome.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I think if the filler material gets thrown in after a good climax in the main story that left the viewer satisfied but also hungry for more then it shouldn`t be a problem. Of course that also depends on the filler, the quality of such a story and how long it is.

I liked the Bount story but I can see that it was too long. Something like the “New Captain” story was much more appropriate. I have the strong feeling that we will get a new filler chapter soon and I wouldn`t mind something similar in length and style until the next “restart”.

I am far from bored with Bleach, the contrary. I am optimistic that Bleach will continue to be interesting, exploring the Bleach world and its many characters. I certainly see no reason to stop.

I am glad that Bleach is an exception of the rule. With me it is the other way round: When I watch Anime series my husband introduced me to, at the end I am often disappointed because they usually finish much too quickly for my taste.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I just want to mention that I have watched Bleach 221. I liked it but it is a stepping stone until the next round of battles start. I am mainly looking forward to Soi Fon and Hitsugaya`s fights.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

^Watching Bleach 221 now.

I really like this show but the momentum is less and less with each new episode.

Maybe in 20 years we all will be rewatching the All-New HD version of "Bleach: Kai" edited to reflect the manga's original intent.

(Sorry just found out about DB:Kai this week. I still think it's amusing that they've cut around 291 epsiodes down to just 100 and all by removing filler, recaps, and pointless powering up scenes.)

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I got a kick out of the episode preview for this one. Something about one of Halibel's fracion saying captain Hitsugaya will be "crushed by Halibel's amazing breasts" and Matsumoto says she thinks he'll be fine because he's used to being crushed by her breasts.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Yes, that was funny :)

I noticed that we see more female assets displayed in Bleach. Matsumoto is a fun character. I have no problem with her. But Nel crossed the line of good taste somewhat and now Halibel...

On the other hand, I am not a male and maybe I should be more forgiving towards the male writer of the series. Fortunately also the female characters show a good mix of different types.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Well, there are anime out there that even offend male's taste in the boobs department...like Eiken. I mean some of them are so huge in that show they probabally have their own gravitational field and attract satellites. :wtf::lol:

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Bleach 222

That was entertaining! Omaeda vs. the big guy, it made me laugh. This was the nice mix of typical Bleach quirkiness with serious aspects that I enjoy so much. I already thought that Omaeda must be a good fighter even if it doesn`t look like that most of the time because otherwise Soi Fon would not put up with him as vice-captain. She is right, I can`t blame her that he gets on her nerves sometimes.

Soi Fon and her opponent were an interesting contrast to the fight of the two big guys: both are very slim, agile and fast. It looks to me that they are quite evenly matched. I guess we will find out next week how this part ends.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

222

This episode was interesting for the first half of Soi Fon's fight. It looks like she just piddling around, getting the crap kicked out of her, but I know the woman is more shrewd and calculating than that (not to mention brutal). She seems to be goading him on and make him use up all his tricks to gauge her oponent. After all we've seen that wicked Kido move she can do and she's a captain so she most likely has a bankai as well in addition to that, both of which she hasn't used yet.

I'm extremely interested in seeing the bankais for the captains we haven't seen yet. I also suspect a few more vice captains have them.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Omaeda's fight was the most entertaining part of 222 for me personally.

I'd honestly started to wonder if maybe... just maybe, the class systems of Soul Society were such that someone of sufficient wealth, & nobility could be promoted to a rank outside their own abilities.

Obviously this is not the case. (I like that they had me questioning it however.)

I wish Soi Fon would just get it over with though, Sizing up your enemy is one thing, but this whole situation is time critical. Omaeda's strenghts my lie within his subterfuge, but Soi Fon isn't concealing anything waiting for a good time to strike, she's holding back (like Ikkaku, though for different reasons) to see where this goes.

Of course if I had a 2-stirke kill ability and I was the assassin of heaven... I'd probably be bored most of the time too.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Bleach 223

It was a good fight. Omaeda was treated a bit more seriously and was less annoying. The interaction between him and his captain was entertaining but also interesting. In spite of some of the things Soi Fon said it was obvious that she does care about him and I liked it that to Omaeda being yelled at by his boss is an acceptable price for saving her life.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

223 shoule have been titled "More relentless time wasting with squad 2" but at least the aracanar finally bought the farm after all that unnecessary stalling. From the preview, looks like next week we're back to Hitsugaya and Matsumoto.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

^I'm with you on the time wasting, it seems like they're just drawing it out to draw it out.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

We're probabally catching up the manga again. Would be my guess anyway.

Get ready for more craptastic Don Kanonji/Kon filler adventures to appear soon. :shifty:

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

Bleach 224

This was much better than the Soi Fon fight. It was much more interesting. I have been wondering for a while if there are tensions between Matsumoto and Hitsugaya that are more serious now than the usual mostly good natured personality clashes visible in the past. Would Matsumoto have been so eager to take on these three Arrancar alone if they would have been male instead of female? I doubt it. I can`t shake the feeling that Matsumoto wanted to prove to her captain that she is to be taken seriously and their teasing affected her more than it should have.

I loved the return of Hinamori! Hopefully she is indeed better although it remains to be seen if she called Aizen captain because of old habits or if there is more behind it. Her Kido skills are amazing. Hinamori is a good example of how deceiving looks can be. Strength can come in many forms. She is very powerful, potentially very dangerous but also very vulnerable because of her mental health issues. I can`t blame Hitsugaya for being suspicious and Aizen`s reaction was interesting.

My six-year-old has a nickname for Shunsui: She calls him “lazy guy”. He tends to make her laugh and she definitely means it affectionately. The scenes between him and Stark reminded me of that. They seem to have some things in common. I am looking forward to find out because sooner or later things will get serious between them. I certainly enjoyed watching this more than the silly chest beating and exchange of insults of some of the hot heads in earlier fights. It shows, both of them have more class.

Ukitake made me laugh. All right, I can understand that he doesn`t want to fight Lilinette. But how does he know how old she actually is? Would Ukitake also refuse to fight Hitsugaya because he looks like a young boy?

By the way, yes, it will be filler time soon. Two more episodes are to come and then the fillers start with “Wonderful Error” (according to Wikipedia). I looked around a bit and it seems that Wonderful Error is based on a Manga short story about a flashback when Ichigo and Chad started high school. Could be good fun. I don`t know how long this will last but there are rumours that this story is followed by another filler exploring the Zanpaktuos and in which Rukia plays an important part.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

224

Hell yeah, now that's a good episode. I'm really happy Hinamori is back as she's one my favorite characters in the series and one of the more balanced female characters in terms of fighting strength (even if she unbalanced mentally). It's good to see her again, and also good that Matsumoto now has a little backup as she was in some serious trouble. I also really hope that's she's been sufficiently "deprogrammed" after what that bastard Aizen did to her. If she's still fragile about it then she shouldn't be there all as she's compromising the mission. Of course Matsumoto doesn't have her head on entirely strait either. If I hazarded a guess, it's that she is distracted by, as you said, the need to prove herself to her captain and doesn't she also have a thing for Gin? I suppose she's not much different than Hinamori in that aspect.

I also like Kyoraku so his fight should be entertaining especially since his opponent seems to be a fellow lazy lout. I don't see Ukitake's fight going anywhere anytime soon with his attitude about the girl though unless he's really in trouble. Speaking of those two I wonder where their lieutenants are? Most of the other captains brought theirs. I don't recall whether Yamamoto has his with either.

Re: Bleach - 206 (Spoilers)

I am sure the people who treated Hinamori think she has been deprogrammed or they wouldn`t have let her join the fight. I also believe that Hinamori herself thinks she is well again. But it is not only the fact that she still called Aizen captain but also Aizen`s reaction behind the firewall that makes me wonder. My guess is, Hinamori`s programming has been deactivated but not deleted. It is still there and Aizen could reactivate it at any time.

It is difficult to make a decision what to do with Hinamori. The safest way would be to let Hinamori disappear and throw her into the Maggot`s Nest, the Soul Society version of Guananano Bay in which the top leaders dump everyone in secret who is or might be a problem. (That was of course in the flashback chapter and it remains to be seen if that prison still exists)

Allowing Hinamori to fight is a risk but I think it is the right thing to do. First, as we could see she is a big help. Second, she is a victim of Aizen`s abuse and if she ever fully recovers she can only do so when people give her a chance and support her. But most important is a third factor, should Aizen still have a hold on her it is better to keep Hinamori close and under observation.

Aizen groomed Gin since childhood and Gin was a good student. He also likes to play cruel mind games with people but I don`t think these games are as powerful and destructive as Aizen`s. Gin saved Matsumoto`s life when they were children but although she has mixed feelings about him he never managed to get her mindless devotion, what Aizen managed to do with Hinamori. I am sure, Matsumoto would have no trouble fighting Gin or Aizen for that matter.

Hm, good question about the lieutenants. I am not sure either.
