Blakes 7 trivia.

Actually, there are a few James Bond people who also appeared in B Blake's 7, and vice-versa. Pamela Salem, who was Miss Moneypenny in Never Say Never Again, was also in the season 1 epsiode, "Cygnus Alpha."

Ok the suspense is killing me. Ric Young. He had a brief role in You Only Live Twice, & also palyed Gunka in Children of Auron.Ginka, "Children of Auron," Blake's 7, BBC, 1980http://www.filmreference.com/film/95/Ric-Young.htmlMost would recognize him from The Transporter.

Paul Darrow appeared in Die Another Day.

Terry Nation twice tried to kill the character of Vila, saying he wasn't being portrayed how he wanted. Fan approval of Vila, and David Jackson's dissatisfaction of Gan lead to a change of mind.

The green ball at the aft end of the Liberator was originally going to be ovoid in shape but the prop kept melting, and a sphere was easier to replace.

Glynis Barber (Soolin) only signed on for one series, so wouldn't have survived the finale even if the show had been renewed for Series E anyway.

Which James Bond Alumni also appeared in Blakes 7? 1 hint, season 3.

I think Star Wars own General Veers appeared as a surgeon at one point too, amusing to see someone like that downgraded from commander of a squadron of AT-ATs to a surgeon who gets wasted by the Federation for trying to dob in Blake and co.

That was Series A's Breakdown, where Julian Glover plays Kayn, a neurologist requested by Blake to help Gan who is dying. Christopher Neame appeared in Series D's Traitor, who also appeared in Licence to Kill.

Paul Darrow plays the surgeon who looks after Bond in Hong Kong. Whilst not actually speaking any lines (except for a slight scream when he's electrocuted) he is still visible on screen.

And if you want to stay with Star Wars actors, Leslie Schofield played Raiker in Space Fall. Schofield played an aide in A New Hope, particularly the character who asks Tarkin if he wants his ship standing by in case evacuation is necessary.

And Brian Blessed (Boss Nass) appeared as Vargas in Cygnus Alpha.

Janet Lees Price appears as Klyn, the main Gauda Prime technician, who is eventually shot by Avon. Janet is the wife of Avon actor Paul Darrow.

He is one of very few people seen to shoot his wife in front of millions of people and get away with it.

Yup, he asked for that especially....I believe they're still together as well!

Quite well known, but City on the Edge of the World was made because Michael Keating's children hated seeing their dad portrayed each week as the fool--hence he got to be brave, and even got the girl (although he let her go in the end)

Michael Keating is the only actor to appear in all 52 episodes.

Paul Darrow originally tried for the role of Blake.

I assume you're thinking of John Hollis (the bloke with the white cat in FYEO, the B7 episode Powerplay), but other B7/Bond crossovers would be:

Paul Darrow (you can see the back of his head in DAD for about 20 frames of film!)

Jeremy Wilkin (TSWLM, The Way Back)
Pamela Salem (NSNA, Cygnus Alpha)
Julian Glover (FYEO, Breakdown)
Vernon Dobtcheff (TSWLM, Shadow)
John Abineri (DAF, Hostage)
Tom Chadbon, (CR, Countdown)
Christopher Neame (LTK, Traitor)
John Wyman (FYEO, Assassin)

That's just the ones off the top of my head

One of the actors inside the mummy/service costumes for Doctor Who - Pyramids Of Mars went onto a big role in B7. It's mentioned in the directors commentary but they don't say who.

Soolin was Glynis Barber's second B7 character - she'd previously played a Mutoid in the first season.

Gareth Thomas supposedly extra effects added to his costume so that it what ever the outcome post 'Blake' it would be obvious that Roj Blake was dead.

More than director Mary Ridge expected according to reports - she was surprised when all the blood appeared!

Mary Ridge also had to be told there were only ever five humans on the ship at any one time. During the filming of Terminal when the Liberator flight deck is destroyed she wanted extra bodies to fall from the ceiling!

Sally Kynvette (Jenna) left the show to study at university after being convinced by an actor whist filming The Keeper. She would later return to acting and appeared on shows like Emmerdale - along with Michael Keating.

Apparently the cast and crew all learned the show was renewed for Series D when they heard the continuity announcer at the end of Terminal say the show would be back next year.

Blake's 7 was originally going to be Blake plus seven others, not counting Zen. Avon was going to be the cowardly figure and sidekick to another badass called Arco. When the show's budget dictated the number of actors be dropped from eight to six, Arco and Selmen were dropped, Avon and Vila's characters changed and Zen became the seventh crewmember.

Arco and Selmen appear in Cygnus Alpha, but are dead by the end of the episode.

Well she could be forgiven on that one - we don't know how many people Servalan took aboard the Liberator.

Plus when you had
Blake
Avon
Gan
Vlia
Cally
Jenna

That makes six (unless you count Cally as not human) :)

She only took three others with her as she only had four functional teleport bracelets (from the crew minus Vila, who was still on the ship, I'm assuming the bracelet found by Avon was either a fake or broken).
