Black Widow anticipation thread

Since those movies always have multi-millions for their budget, I doubt we'll ever see them go directly to home media, simply because there'd be no way for them to make back their production costs that way.
I think if they release the big movies, like Black Widow or Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and charge $20 a rental, they'd probably make pretty close to the amount of money they'd make if they released them in theaters.

$20 is a rip and I'd never do it. I'd rather spend $7 on a matinee and have a good theater experience. Plus, piracy would certainly kill sales in direct to streaming. They wouldn't make nearly as much.

I usually see movies with my mom, and our matinees are about $9 and we have a special cup that gets us $1 drinks, so it comes out pretty close to what we'd spend on a trip to the theater. It's a lot cheaper for people who usually take the whole family to regular shows.

If they release them on streaming they will easily be ripped and be all over pirate sites within hours- in lovely nice full HD quality too (as opposed to your filmed-on-a-camera-phone-at-the-back-of-a-movie-theatre-with-Chinese-subtitles you usually get on such sites with cinema released new movies)

You know Disney+ still isn't available here in the UK. And yet everyone has seen The Mandalorian though...

I thought they had already delayed it, but I guess that was just rumors that they might.

Dammit.
But if it helps ensure a high bums-in-seats count when it finally hits the cinema...

And here we are-

Marvel Studios indefinitely delays Black Widow release

Not exactly a surprise. Ah well, at least this didn't happen last year. If this had been for Endgame it would have been infuriating!
Not surprised it's been delayed, a bit surprising that it's "indefinitely" delayed, as I would have thought this would be a big enough movie to warrant a new release date announced with its postponement announcement. Unless my earlier speculation was correct and they are trying to figure out a juggling act of how to slot it in among other blockbusters and needing to bump other MCU movies and slot them in among other blockbusters accordingly.

^They're probably just taking a "wait and see" approach rather than commit to a whole new schedule.

I think it's a safe bet that most, if not all major releases over the next month are going to get pushed back, one way or another.

At this point, aren't all major releases up through May already postponed? IIRC, Black Widow was the last one still holding onto it original release date. I don't think there are any important releases now until June, and hopefully by then the virus will be passed.

Show of hands, who exactly would even want to risk going to the cinema in the middle of all this anyway? Those places are grubby at the best of times. With a virus running around? Yeah, no thanks! I can wait to see a movie.

If not, we'll have bigger problems by then anyway...

Not all the ones near me. All the chains are competeing agains each other now, and esp Netflix, so have lowered their prices. £4.99 at Vue for any film any time of day is excellent value. And most now have been done out and vastly upgraded with really nice reclining leather seats and your own little table. It's like Larry David designed them. So anyway, the Vues and Everymans near me at least are fantastic. And I tend to go in the afternoon when it's dead anyway.
But alas..

Anyway, Wonder Woman 84 would be the next big one I wanna see, out June 5th. And then after that Ghostbusters: Afterlife on July 10th.... So we'll have to see how long this drags on..

For a film that was originally slated to come out in May, it seems awfully late to change composers.

Massive release date changes today. Black Widow moves to November to take Eternals old spot, Eternals moves to Shang-Chi's old spot, and each domino continues to fall after that.

On the plus side, Disney did announce a brand new date: Captain Marvel 2 is coming in July 2022.

That leaves the MCU 2022 schedule at :Thor 4, Black Panther 2, and Captain Marvel 2. So far. They may add a 4th film in the last few months of the year. A pretty loaded schedule.

But the big news here is: we're waiting an extra 6 months for Black Widow. (Fingers crossed that the wait isn't longer.)

Well it would be bad to compete with Wonder Woman... this way both films will get maximum opportunity.

Captain Marvel 2 is July 2021 or July 2023?
