Black Lightning’ DC Superhero Series In Works From Greg Berlanti, Mara Brock Akil & Salim Akil

I am interested..especially expending the diversity...but an..Holy Oversaturation? Unless it's a "filler" show like AGent CArter -- which would e awesome to have.

I take it he will appear in one of the other shows in the near future?

Has the CW picked it up?

^^
They're pitching it around to networks.
If it gets picked up, I doubt it will be by the CW before one of their current shows ends.

I just hope he gets to call Aquaman "White Fish". Anyone else watch Harvey Birdman? :D

Nobody's picked up Black Lightning yet; it's just in the early stages of development. And The CW's president is on record as saying that he thinks the network has enough superhero shows. So nobody knows yet where it will end up.

None of the CW shows will be streamed this season until a week after the finales are aired.
Are they changing the policy of having episodes available on their website the next day, or are you referring to other streaming services?

He's (likely) referring to CW's recent contract signing with Netflix, granting NF concluded seasons 8 days upon that show's season finale. Next day availability of CW shows currently on Hulu, will cease at the end of this month.
The CW's website and a yet to be launched app for Rokus and other streaming boxes, will become the exclusive home for next day streaming of ttheir shows, limited to 4 at a time.

CW does not currently have an app for television boxes like most other networks--just the CW seed is available. I have not heard that there are plans to launch a new app--that would be great!

The other issue is that most networks (ABC and NBC excluded) require a cable subscription to watch episodes on the web, or they require an independent subscription.

The network's deal with its other streaming service partner, Hulu, ends before the news season, meaning that The CW will have exclusive in-season streaming rights to its shows. Before the season begins, it will expand its CW app to Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast and Amazon Fire.

Whether a cable subscription authentification will be required remains to be seen.

Fuck street level.

Go the full Obama.

Jefferson Pierce was President Luthor's Secretary of Education.

The President is being introduced in Supergirl this year.

That seems simpatico.

Come to think of it...IIRC, Black Lightning was originally based in Metropolis...so there's a Superman connection if they want to put him on Earth-SG.

His final powers breakdown is how similar to Live Wire that he will seem derivative of her?

Actually, Live Wire would have been perfect to sort out Indigo.

Powers are just the tip of the iceberg. He's an ex athlete and educator. Those have more potential to drive plots.

Also the father of two teenage daughters with their own superpowers, although the plot description only mentions one daughter with "a hunger for justice." It occurred to me that this could have similarities to Berlanti's first superhero show, No Ordinary Family.

Remember the educator superhero Ralph Hinkley from the Greatest American Hero?

(That sounds a lot more sarcastic than I want it to. Teacher/superhero, that's him, but then so was Black Panther for a while, pretending that he was Gabe Cotter or US To Sir with Love, tending to the poor and needy.)

The weirdest thing about the Teaching aspect in the Greatest American Hero, was watching the 17 year old male thug, keep threatening to beat up his teacher, because his 17 year old girlfriend keeps trying to seduce the superhero/teacher who treats all these 17 year olds like they are 12, even though the actors are almost 30.

Captain America was a teacher in the 50's. Bucky was one of his students. Later retconned into being the crazy Cap.

Nothing wrong with being a teacher.

Although Peter Parker couldn't even make it as a teacher's aid without getting fired.

During the school year, it would be hard to find time to be a Superhero, but #### it, what about summer vacation?
