My BOTF disc finally broke several months ago! It is one of my favorite PC games ever! I have tried to find it online. Buying an actual new disc is far too costly ($60 and up on ebay) and all the sites I've found that purport to have the game available to download for free seem to have versions that require some extra "computering" that continues to elude me...

Anyone got any leads or tips on how I can once again enjoy this game?

Sorry to hear that, Mike. BotF is my favourite ST game.

Apologies if I sound like I'm doing some spamming of my own here, but have you looked at Distant Worlds yet?

It's a real-time 4x game that's quickly becoming one of my most loved games of all time. I've made some Trek mods for it, that, at the risk of sounding modest, are pretty decent considering the mod support is still quite limited. It's only going to improve though.

I think that you can find a decent downloadable version there.

The one I downloaded over a year ago works fine (both the original game and the wonderful Dominion mod patch.
