Bioware is allowing poeple to import their da save game to da2.

Care to post more details on what carries over? You know, so there's something to actually discuss?

Actual discussion isn't one of baba's strong points.

In any event, the news that save games would import came out of an article in Game Informer magazine, I believe. Since we're not playing our original Warden, I'm going to guess that the type of data that carries over will relate mainly to how the Warden's actions affected the world: which alliances he/she brokered, who is king/queen, and so on. I don't believe BioWare has given any firm details, but it seems unlikely we would need any of the more personal -- such as relationship(s) -- data.

I suspect the status of one of the (non party) characters will also arise.

How do they deal with people who start with DA2? What did they do with players who started with ME2 and the "world" decisions that would be carried over from the first game?

Bioware basically have a sort of official canon in mind and just choose the world" decisions they decided upon from ME 1 as the default world of ME 2.

For ME2, it was a combination of this, as well as a few questions asked by Miranda/Jacob right after the escape from the Lazarus base that were (in-universe) designed to test Shepard's memory. For DA2, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it'll likely be similar. DA2 is essentially a story being told of your character Hawke, so I'd guess part of the "framing" around the story from the person telling it will involve determining some of the world-changing choices that could have been made in DAO.

As I expected, "the world" is what will be imported from DAO into DA2.
We look at it as importing the world really. I’ve always seen Dragon Age as a franchise as about more than any one character. It’s about entire an entire span of history and the whole world that’s affected by what happens. So that was our approach and I think the importing stays true to that in the sense that the decisions your Warden made and the person they were all affects Dragon Age II. You know, who’s in charge of Ferelden, what happened with the Dwarves, who’s running Orzammar? All of these things are reflected and accounted for in Dragon Age II.
That's a 4-page interview that looks to be worth reading for any DAO fan (I haven't finished reading it yet myself).
