Bill Cosby

I'm not sure if it is appropriate to post this thread here. It is topical and has been an ongoing and disturbing issue of abuse and I would say injustice. However, if it is too sensitive or just the wrong place, I apologise.

He has been found guilty of sexual assault and I feel emotional for his accuser and so many others. What a brave human being she is. I hope that her strength and resolve gives some kind of justice to so many other victims.

MY childhood in the late 60s was consumed with this mans albums, know them word for word.
I'm glad he's most probably going to die in prison, especially because he held himself up
as a paragon of virtue whilst badly abusing women. The man was funny, but such
hypocrisy deserves the worst punishment possible.

Rot in prison, Mr. Cosby

It's the strangest feeling like my reaction felt kind of exhausted or something, like I just wanted to hug these women. As for Cosby it almost hurts your head thinking about him at all. It wasn't him the real him your childhood memories were about :(

I know. It's just sad.
:(

I feel such a huge sense of relief, like he was gong to get away with what he did. I feel it's so wonderful to see that power and privilege crumbling, but there's still so much work to do. But maybe the next man will know he won't get away with it, but what we really need more than anything is for other men to stop letting their peers get away with it.

I've never seen the Cosby show so I don't have any personal experiences, I don't think I've ever actually seen him in anything, but I've always known of him my whole life. It's so sad he thought he could do this to people (but he possibly doesn't really view us as people).

I did not expect that he would be found guilty. The justice system is so random and unpredictable. That's neat that he was found guilty despite the millions he probably spent on his defense.

Proof positive there is an emergent determination to not let these kinds of things go unchallenged anymore.

Anyone have thoughts on jail time?

He always presented himself as this positive role model... I will certainly never be able to look at any of his work the same way again. :barf2:

He could get 10 years for each of the three sentences. But I heard those 3 sentences would run concurrently so he can only get 10 years max for this. They'll probably take his age into consideration. I'll guess he'll get 5 years.

To the grave.
Not only is he scum to women, he's robbed all of us of the joy we took from his work.
And it's never coming back.

Fuck him

I am so very sad for all of his victims, but I don't feel his dying in prison will change anything he's done or really solve anything at all. He's already lost everything that really mattered to him, and I feel his guilty verdict is so very important in itself to show other men they won't get away with it, and will make it easier both for women to come forward and for men to stop letting their peers get away with this.

Yeah, but it's good object lesson in what happens to those who abuse women.

Sorry, my friend, the man deserves to die forgotten.

If we believe all of the other allegations too, and I do, then he is a serial rapist. The only people worse than that are serial pedophiles and serial killers.

Really he is getting off easy. Even a life sentence at this point is not enough of a punishment.

And what about those we don't know about? How many may have committed suicide after their
"experience"?

One time, as a kid in the 1980s, someone asked me if I saw The Cosby Show, presumably referring to whatever episode was on the previous night. I said "no". I didn't watch it back then and, even today, have never seen an entire episode.

Same for me. For some reason I didn't like that Cosby show. But, I'm old enough to have watched "Fat Albert" as a kid. I loved that show. Another good memory tarnished.
