Biggest insulting slap-in-the-face episode for fans?

Wow, was E:FC really that bad? I remember that I watched it briefly, but it was long ago for me that I remember absolutely nothing about it.

I think what I remember is blue aliens, a hand-mounted bio-mechanical computer, and incoherent rambling. But maybe it's because I came in after season 1 and had no idea what was going on.

Or it was conceived in a purple haze of glory. Naah. :rommie:

Another vote for Endgame. I liked TATV because I got what they were trying to do (both in front of and behind the camera), and to be honest I've blocked episodes like Fury and Threshold from my mind. But at least TATV had some sort of proper conclusion with Archer about to give his speech followed by the "these are the voyages" montage at the end. Endgame was the conclusion of a 7-year series ... but it just ... ended. No scenes of the ship returning home, no suggestion of what happened to the crew. Yes, TATV didn't do a lot of that either, but at least it ENDED, as opposed to Endgame just whimpering away to nothing.

I also place a lot of the blame for Enterprise's rejection on this episode because a lot of people were turned against Enterprise long before that show aired, and one of the reasons for it was the fact it was done by the same production regime that did Endgame. There was another thread asking us to name the moment/episode that "killed" the Trek franchise, and I voted for Endgame.

(That said, even Endgame was a much better episode than TNG's infamous "Shades of Grey", but back in 1989 the idea of a "clip show" was somewhat standard practice so I couldn't really call it a "slap in the face" episode.)

Cheers

Alex

The only reason that Shades of Grey was made was because of the Writers Guild Strike earlier that year. They ran out of scripts and had no other choice. That is also why that season is 4 shorter than the other seasons.

Was it ? I was dissapointed that they waited around 15 months to bring the Borg Back. It took too long for them to return. th Best of Both Worlds would have worked better as a season 2 ender since the Borg had before Transwarp technology written in for them faster ships that had already been to the Alpha Quadrant.
BOBw should have been the season 2 ender . It would have been a shocker and a real kick in the ribs to the writers of the show. Season 3 would have opened on the heels of it. Season 3 would have been more like season 4 which wasn't half bad. I used to get dissapointed that most o the Next Gen stories were bland and dull and way too " talky" .

I think Season 3 was okay the way it was.

But, if they had killed off Picard in S2 BOBW (since Picard didn't really become a great character until S3), it would've made Yesterday's Enterprise all that much more bittersweet in Picard being alive in the alternate timeline along with Tasha.
