Biggest Crybaby on Voyager...

Kes. No other crewmember went back in time to DESTROY Voyager, just for spite.

Janeway, everyone else can be blamed for following her example.

Aliens steal Neelix's lungs because they have a terminal illness. :(

A-boo! a-boo-hoo-hoo!

Torres was a crybaby, too. And Kes, Kim and even Neelix at times.

Buncha sad sacks. Except 7 of 9, those sacks were anything but sad!

Janeway
All she had to do was let Q knock her up to get home...

Yeah, really. What starship captain wouldn't volunteer to be a single mom when given the chance?
I doubt Q would have just abandoned her...
And frankly, compared to the deaths she knew would come... the fact that they were heading towards borg space (likely to never survive)... I think it's rather selfish for her not to do it

It really disgusts and sickens me just how many people (all men I've noticed...hmm) cry foul at the fact that Janeway wasn't willing to carry and give birth to Q's child.

I'm sorry but no one should have to be strapped with that kind of responsibility if she doesn't really want it, especially considering the capabilities such a child might have. Given Q's hands off approach to parenting in Q2, well, he might not have abandoned her, but I doubt he would've been very helpful. Or he simply would've taken off with the sprog (can't say I'd feel too good knowing that clown was raising my progeny whether I'd wanted the kid or not). At any rate, they'd hardly be some sweet, happy little family unit of three.

She didn't want his child. She didn't want even Q. She shouldn't have been expected to spend the rest of her life connected to someone she doesn't care for by way of an unwanted child. I have a hard time believing anyone in her crew would've fault her for basically choosing not to sell her body for them.

There's a line and I have more respect for Janeway for not crossing it than I would've if she had. In her position, I would've stuck with my principles and made the same decision, too.

Furthermore, she couldn't have known how likely or unlikely any member of her crew was to die by staying in the Delta Quadrant. For all she knew, they might find a nice little wormhole that lead straight onto Earth's doorstep in the next day or two. Of course, with the Dominion War going on, even more of her crew may have died there than those that did in the next four years they remained in the Delta Quadrant.

Q made it quite clear that he expected her to raise the child. Janeway had to explain to him that there was more to raising a child then "impregnating someone and walking away." Unfortunately, Qs attitude seems to be quite common nowadays.

If I seem touchy about this topic it's because I volunteer as a mentor to single-parent kids. Most of them live in poverty because quite frankly being a single mom is a one-way ticket to poverty. There is also the emotional fallout these kids face from knowing their father who by rights should be around loving them unconditionally is not interested in being in their lives. Janeway definitely made the right call, imo.

Now before someone chimes in about single women and sperm banks those are the wealthy exceptions, not the rule. In fact a friend of mine went that route but not only does she have a good job but is also one of the most super-organized people on the planet.
