Big Trouble in Little China

Now this is a fantastic underrated cult fantasy action comedy epic from John Carpenter. Kurt Russell kicks ass as Jack Burton a truck driver in San Francisco where he battles the supernatural forces of evil.

One of my favorites! it has humor, aciton, great special effects, cool critters even that disgusting but lovable Guardian and memorable moments like a guy who gets mad, inflates as he looks like a Garbage Pail Kid then explodes into a shower of toss salad.

I LOVE this movie and proudly own it.

I haven't watched it in a while but have been thinking about sitting back one night and ejoying the greatness that is this movie.

This is the one movie I really enjoy Kurt Russell in. Otherwise, I can't really stand him.

Plus, it has Kim Cattrall. Win.

Some great lines in this movie.

Jack Burton: That is not water.
Egg Shen: Black blood of the Earth.
Jack Burton: Whatcha mean? Oil?
Egg Shen: I mean, black blood of the Earth.

Funny, someone just mentioned this to me as one of their favourite movies the other day, and I had never even heard of it.

Great cult movie. One of the few that I actually own on DVD (another on the same shelf is Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins).

A undying source of wisdom and witty lines.

I like the movie but I wish people wouldn't mention it, because sooner or later some schmuck will wanna remake it.

Honestly when I saw the topic I felt a little sick because I thought it was going to be that it was being remade.

Love the movie and for my money it's the penultimate movie of John Carpenter's career as the movie he made after that (They Live) was the last movie he made that I actually really liked.

It's by far the coolest movie ever made! It's got hot babes, brave heroes, evil villains, wise old wizards, deadly ninjas, ugly monsters, sword fights, gun fights, kung-fu fights, magic, a groovy soundtrack, the hell of the upside-down sinners, and an underground neon temple thingy. What more can you ask for? :techman:

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."

Awesome movie. Now I have to watch it again. Damn

I always liked this line and use it from time to time: "Are you crazy? Is that your problem?"

A classic movie that was a very early DVD purchase for me. Absolutely love that style of 80's goofy yet taking itself seriously and then everyone just forgetting about the weirdness and getting on with their lives.

And glad there's no whiff of remake about.

Didn't it get a lot of complaints of racism when it came out? (I'm too young to remember.) It seemed to go over a lot of people's heads that Jack Burton was the sidekick in the whole thing.

Unfortunately I can see this being on the growing remake list of movies Hollywood wants to rape...

Yeah, some people miss the whole point of the movie, including Good Will Riker in some of his posts around here (speaking of GWR, I haven't seen him post in quite a while).

"Have you paid your dues?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail"

"You know, I'm feelin pretty good about this"
"me too, I have a very positive outlook"
"Is it getting warm in here?":guffaw:

God I love this movie! As much as I also enjoyed Buckaroo Banzai, I am so glad this wasn't made as the sequel it was originally intended to be.

I've never seen this, but I did see "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension", which I heard this was originally supposed to be a sequel to. If anyone has seen both, do you see any elements in it that remind you of the other movie or hint that it could have been the sequel to it?
