Big towers seen in the background

I think the big towers seen in the background of a multitude of Earthbound scenes are meant to be vertical farms...

Yea I noticed those too. At first I thought they were those rock formations you see out in Arizona. Then I noticed the lights.

Could be power plants too, being out in the middle of no where and all.
