When I watch these old movies, Big being the most recent last night, I am just floored about how much time has come since these great movies came out. I loved this movie then, I still love it now. And, yes, Elizabeth Perkins wasn't the hottest babe around, but I always had a crush on her...
This is another example of a great movie that doesn't care about "HOW" it happens...it just tells a great story. We don't really need to know how the carnival machine made him younger, or where it came from, or this or that....it just doesn't matter.
What does matter is the fun the boy has as an adult (bonking Perkins eventually being one of them) and then, at the end, going back to his childhood (getting to keep the memory of bonking Perkins!)
Yeah, a lot of things have to go his way (befriending the toy company president and bonding with him in the classic scene when they do chop-sticks on the foot keyboard) but who cares?
My five year old watched it and was totally captivated as did my 14 year old daughter...
Just a simple family film, with sprinkles of scifi. And it still holds up all these years later.
on a 1-10 scate? A solid 9!
