News Big Finish will make available free downloads of one audio play each week

Downloaded it.

I've want to try a big finish audio, but I'm not made of money. If I enjoy it, they've got themselves a new customer.

Just created an account and downloaded the first week's freebie. I honestly had no idea of the file size, but was pleasantly surprised how relatively "compact" it is. Assuming it's of a length similar to the physical CDs I've purchased (though Who North America), 128 mgabytes (includes a PDF "magazine" and some hi-rez images to print as CD covers) i is impressively small, yet the frequency range is quite rich, not sounding "tinny" at all (except where it's needed, like the voices of Daleks and other cybernetic creatures and robots). ;)

One would be a fool to pass on this deal unless one (for unfathomable reasons) just happens to loathe the notion of DW audio dramas.

Fair, but keep in mind that The Innocent is generally considered an average story by most fans in relation to Big Finish's best fare. If you're interested, I can provide recommendations of which audio plays to check out depending where your interests. They have a lot of content, so it's better to narrow down the field a bit.

Well, unless you already own whichever audios they're offering. I already own The Innocent and I often already own much of what they offer for free or deep discount.

I never knew John Hurt did these, I'll have to give it a shot.
Yup, he did four boxsets of three stories each before he passed away. The last set features Leela if you needed extra motivation.

This week's free audio play is The Beginning, a Companion Chronicle narrated by Carole Ann Ford as Susan and featuring Terry Molloy as a new Time Lord character. It tells the story of The First Doctor and Susan's first adventure together in the TARDIS and is also part of a loose trilogy of audios featuring Molloy's character. The other two audios are The Dying Light (with Frazer Hines and Wendy Padbury) and Luna Romana (with Lalla Ward and Juliet Landau as Romana III).

And Cicero did appear in a recent Doctor Who audio, played by the same actor and written by the same writer as in the Cicero series. So they’re sort of in the same continuity. If you squint.
