I'm curious how much Big Finish can or will play with Thasmin.

It's Big Finish, so it's inevitable that Thirteen will meet Benny and River at some point. And probably Eight, since Paul McGann turns up for everything.

I hope BF will refrain and restrain from having her meet River... and as I type this, I know it won't happen, hahaha.

But I certainly would want them to rehabilitate her incarnation in a way they did with Six. She's my least favorite incarnation by a long mile, and I do hope they'll make her much more assertive and dynamic than she almost never was on the show.

I hope BF does have some restraint in the cameo encounters at least for a while. 13's era was hurt by character exploration/focus being hampered by the pacing issues created by the constant big concepts the show was throwing out. Letting the audio stories just be dictated by the Doctor and Yaz reacting to various situation and the personal development from that can be a novelty in and of itself without having it be dominated by "13 encounters the Paternoster Gang!" just to name one hypothetical example.

Its not surprising, but its nice to see. Even as someone who isn't huge into Big Finish this sounds like good news, if any Doctor needs a place to show their stuff outside of their TV episodes I'd say that 13 needs it even more then 6 did. I've always said that I think Whittaker could have been a great Doctor with better material, so I'll be interested in seeing how this goes.

There's always the three years during The Flux that Yaz, Dan and Professor Jericho were stuck in the past that can be expanded upon as well.

Of course I want Thirteen to meet River Song! I've wanted that ever since Jodi Whitaker was announced! Do we know if there are any limitations on the types of stories they can tell? Can they expand upon The Division in any way? Or is that all reserved for the Fugitive Doctor?

I definitely want to see more of Yaz, Dan, and Jericho adventures. Hell, I thought of Big Finish immediately after seeing that huge gap established. It almost felt deliberate (it probably wasn't).

I'm curious, because I skipped a lot of 13's era, was there any time before the very end where The 13th Doctor went off by herself and could have had adventures with all new companions? I know she got separated from Yaz and friends during The Flux, but the Flux itself means she couldn't really have gone off on random adventures, at least from what I remember.

I know they can stick in more adventures with her original companion team and even just The Doctor and Yaz (I think), I'm just curious if there is any time during the TV show, but before Flux, where the 13th Doctor could have had some completely open adventures, or if this is a case of The Doctor's lifespan being shown pretty clearly on screen, not leaving much room for adventures without at least one of the TV regulars.

Big Finish has shoved years of adventures between "Planet of Fire" and "Androzani," so I don't think they'll have any trouble creating non-existent gaps for the thirteenth Doctor.

Yeah, fair enough I'm all for sticking more adventures into a Doctor's time line, especially nowadays when, just based on TV episodes, it feels like many Doctors only live a few years before regenerating.

The plot as revealed in the clip is rather compelling, but I digress...

Jodie's era just got better and better from series 12 onward, so hopefully they can continue the vibe! (Ditto for Jo Martin, whose (first?) release will be out hopefully early next year.)

Dan and Yaz were awesome, and more would be fantastic! (emphasis on "tastic" since "fan" is too descriptive ) Id' be just as nice to have Kevin McNally back as well, who should have stayed on as Hugo back in 1984 instead of being left behind, but there I go digressing again...

But I also like "Legend of the Sea Devils" as a whole - if nothing else, someone should!

Definitely wasn't. Briggs mentioned in one of his BF podcasts that Chibster has never heard any of the BF audio dramas, at all.

Not surprised it wasn't deliberate...but I am surprised Chibnall (seriously, is it that hard to say his actual name?) hadn't heard about the Big Finish audio plays. I would've thought he'd at least have a vague knowledge of them, as one would with any the other licensed material.

That said, there's nothing wrong with that lack of knowledge. He was focused on just making the show and that's fine.

I would assume it’s “hasn’t heard any” as in doesn’t listen to them, rather than hasn’t heard OF them. He definitely knows BF exists; he mentions them in this interview https://www.starburstmagazine.com/features/interview-chris-chibnall-part-2-doctor-who-and-beyond/, and I gather they’re mentioned in some of his DWM showrunner columns as well.
