Big Bang Theory Season 9 Discussion (Spoilers included)

Though I'm wondering, it's been a few months since we found out that Bernadette is pregnant. Shouldn't she have a baby bump by now?

Has it really been that long? The shows been in reruns off and on too. For all we know, in the show's time it's only been a few weeks.

2 months in real time...
Could be less in-universe time...
Which makes sense, most likely it will be a story arc in the next season...

How quickly the writers forget that Howard and Amy bonded over their love of Neil Diamond a few seasons back.

I thought they acknowledged it?! I may be wrong, it's been a few days since I've seen the episode, but when they were the first ones at the wine tasting, didn't they say something about back then, that they had promised each other they should do this again, and never done it since?! Something like that?

They specifically said it had been three years since they'd last hung out together. The scavenger hunt episode aired two seasons ago, in October 2013...so close enough for TV, I think.

I feel like the writing (and the humor) this season has been better than it has been for quite a while. But the show isn't really improving, despite that, because they're cutting the stories down to the absolute bare bones. The A stories are resolved way too fast and easily and the B stories have become almost non-existent at this point, so it's basically down to just watching this group of friends hang out and tease each other for 20 minutes.

The arcs are getting predictable. The moment Raj started dating two women at once I knew at some point his cover would need to be blown. If there's any surprise, it's that it happened so quickly.

I'm also not sure how true-to-character it is for Raj to act like this much of a player. They spent so long building him up to be effeminate, being into cooking and rom coms and all of the gay innuendo between him and Howard. I know they want him to grow and change but having him flip around and become a womanizer seems like too much of a stretch. I would expect him to have too guilty a conscience to allow himself to fall into this.

Not sure what he's doing is "womanizing".
Even though he's "effeminate", he's always had a healthy interest in women.

From what I remember (I only saw part of it) he got together with Emily through an online dating site, and only because Amy helped him. If I had someone writing my messages for me and trying to set me up, I might have had good luck on the online dating scene as well.

And then he was able to take that confidence of being in a relationship and use it to land this other woman (who's name escapes me at the moment). Based on these events, and looking at it this way, I think it's personally reasonable that Raj has ended up dating two woman.

I'm not sure that was any more predictable than the will they/won't they stories of Sheldon and Amy and Leonard and Penny, as well as plenty of other things that go back to the beginning of the show. The real issue, like you say, is that it happened so fast. The stories have no room to breath anymore.

I think it totally fits how *spoiled* Raj has always been. Why choose, if he can have both? Its nice to think of the rom com's when you're alone, but when faced with a choice like that? Raj has never had to (gotten to) deal with this before in his life, and is loving every second of it.

I kind of wanted to slap Sheldon.

I felt really bad for Penny. Especially since her dad likes Leonard quite a bit.

FYI: Leonard's dad will be featured in the season finale next week.

I liked this episode for the most part. I think Sheldon's antics were a bit too out there, even for him. I often times give him the benefit of the doubt, because I believe that someone with Aspergers could possibly act like that, but that part didn't work for me. I did like seeing Christine Baranksi again. I wonder if now that 'The Good Wife' is ending we'll see her pop up more often?

Cute episode but nothing momentous. I liked Judd Hirsch as Leonard's dad. My favorite bit was Amy ordering Sheldon to play on his phone. I actually thought that was a major step forward in his/their development, that he would actually agree to that.

I was disappointed that we didn't see any of Penny's family, but then again this episode already had three guest stars.

I think that Virginia Madsen would be a good choice to play Penny's mother, her age is about right and her resemblance to Kaley Cuoco is striking.
