Big announcement?

Mr Awe

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Doctor Who Official just tweeted, "We'll bring you the BIG announcement as soon as we can... It will be some time tonight and PLEASE don't worry... It's great news!!!"

Any ideas?

I'm guessing it's the recently rumored news of David Tennant and Catherine Tate doing Big Finish audio plays.

^ Sigh. That makes sense. I'd be happy for those into the audios, but I'm not. I was hoping for a missing episode(s) recovery. That would be the most exciting announcement from my point of view.

Other guesses I hear would be a spin off, Tom Baker returning, or Piper returning. Only Baker returning would warrant that level of excitement from me!

Don't get me wrong, as excited as I'm about the idea of David and Catherine doing Big Finish (in his case, again), I would much prefer this news to be about missing episodes.

Yeah, I hope its really big news for the show, but Big Finish news seems more likely at this point.

Oh god, if Peter Jackson was directing the show the whole series that year would just be two 6 part stories that were CG filled and extremely slow and boring, and even then they'd release the show on DVD/Blu Ray afterwards with 90 minutes of cut material :cardie:

Peter Jackson could tie into "Pete's World", which is possibly the hint that they referred to. But, "BIG" could well be that hint too.

Or perhaps the news is announcing a new show runner?

Whatever your view of Moffat it would be unfair on any showrunner to hype his replacement before he's gone, same as with a Doctor. Saying don't worry its great news doesn't imply a change of personal, unless I'm very much mistaken.

Maybe its the announcement of the next companion? We already know Coleman is leaving, so her replacement could be "great news" while not being a jab at Coleman leaving.

Yeah, that's a good point. The tweet is rather enthusiastic which isn't really the right tone for announcing someone's replacement mid-season, especially since Moffat hasn't made any sounds about leaving.

They keep promoting "Colony Sarff Forgotten Doctor" on the Twitter feed. Maybe "forgotten Doctor" is the obscure clue? John Hurt will be returning as the War Doctor? They're casting a pre-Hartnell Doctor?
