Bi-Warp...?

Johnny

Commander
Red Shirt
In DS9 S4, "Little Green Men", Nog mentions the development of the Ferengi Alliance and breezes past a 'bi-warp technology' comment. Anyone have any ponderings of what this could relate to?
J.

No idea, maybe a doubling of the nested warp fields generated by the warp engines? Not quite sure what that would do though.

It's actually "..buy warp technology..." :)

NOG: But think about it, uncle. That means they went from being savages with a simple barter system to leaders of a vast interstellar Federation in only five thousand years It took us twice as long to establish the Ferengi Alliance, and we had to buy warp technology from the...

The next question then, since it's Ferengi related, do their warp cores require you to slot gold-pressed latinum into them to keep them online; like those coin operated electricity meters? :D

"Warning: primary coolant system failure. To re-initialize coolant system, please insert two bars of gold-pressed latinum into slot A."

Ferengi engineer inserts two bars.

"I changed my mind. It's now three bars."

"You said it was two bars!"

"What, your life isn't worth three bars? Actually make it four. No, five..."

Technically, in the books, they do have bi-warp technology. The USS Invincible has a transwarp core and a standard warp core. I also generally figured every ship with more than two warp nacelles had multiple cores.

Interesting. ST09 seems to have about six warp cores. Not sure what is up with that, but if you have to have warp speed, do it in a brewery!

Most species use heterowarp, and a few use homowarp. Sometimes, a species will use biwarp, but only to get the attention of other warps.
