Betty Ford

93? That's a good long run, I'd say, especially since she beat alcoholism, prescription drug addiction and breast cancer.

I'll say this much for her: she had real guts coming out about her addictions, when at that time. such things weren't publicly discussed.

R.I.P Betty Ford

I think both she and Gerald were both great examples of what ex-presidents and First Ladies should be.

RIP, Betty Ford.

She is certainly proof that one can survive breast cancer and go on to live a long and productive life.

She was one gutsy lady. Apparently after the masectomy when she had to appear for her first public appearance she said it was particularly hard to walk out and know everybody was staring at her chest trying to determine if there was a notable difference.

R.I.P.

RIP to one of the most courageous ladies this world has ever seen. A true leader. Her name will continue to stand for strength and dignity.

RIP to a very brave woman who by publicizing her own struggles helped people to learn to not be ashamed to get help for their own addictions. She's done a great service to this country as First Lady and beyond.

RIP, Betty Ford. I really admired her courage and grace in the face of the adversity she faced. She was a class act.

Always liked the Fords. They seemed to be genuinely decent people who tried honestly to do what they though best for their country.
