Better Call Saul, the TV series

I was a bit confused, myself, on why Mike used the RC car to "deliver" the money with the black-light paint on it. At first I thought when the Kettlemans both came out to look at it he was going to "lead them away" for confrontation in the wilds or something but, instead, it just sort-of sat there and seemed placed there. Didn't make much sense to me on why an RC car was used when pretty much anything could have been used.

I thought the same thing at first about it moving, but then I thought that maybe he put it on the car to implicate one of the kids taking it out of the hiding place. Because if he just placed it on the ground, it might be a bit more suspicious.

yeah, after they find the money you can see them yelling at the kids and then they send the kids to their rooms and go to bed themselves.

My theory about his leaving the files in his brother's place was maybe that there's some kind of electric field generator hidden in the stack and he's trying to prove to him his condition is psychological.

The point of the car definitely seemed like it was to blame the kids.

Maybe the kid thing makes sense but it seems weak.

Yeah, the kids found the money stash under the boards of the hall-bathroom vanity, they took a wad of it out, put it in the bed of the R/C Truck, drove it around and played with it. Then left this R/C truck sitting out there on the patio for the rest of the afternoon and well into the evening/night and they're just *now* noticing it. Hell, the very premise of the idea relies on the kids having even played outside that day.

But the alternative hypothesis is that somebody just left a wad of bills lying around on a toy truck for no reason. Mike knows the Kettlemans not to be the brightest of criminals.

Decent Saul-centric story, moving his story along again after last weeks detour into Mikes past.

One gripe though; a couple scenes felt too long, (the times Saul in the office alone and when Mike was watching the house) like they were wasting valuable time. But the payoff was good.

And it's nice to see the huge stack of cash again. What would a Breaking Bad spin off be without a huge stack of cash. lol

Yeah, but they also know they gave a good chunk of that cash to Saul. But, yeah, they didn't seem too bright. But I loved Mrs. Kettleman and her tenacity. I want a spin-off of HER where she spends the 18-months with her husband away making pot-brownies in her kitchen and becoming very rooted in the criminal underworld, eventually facing-off with Tuco and basically nagging him to the point where he says, "Jesus, shut-up, lady! Fine, you can have your turf!" and stalks off in frustration.

I assumed the boxes were just a way of getting Chuck to do all the paperwork (while Jimmy spends his time finding clients). It's a win-win from Jimmy's perspective: he doesn't have to deal with the paperwork, and Chuck gets to feel useful. Plus, it could be the first step in getting Chuck to work with him.

As, I think about it. Getting Chuck as sort of a back-door secretary/para-legal may be what Saul was going for there in leaving his papers at the house. Which is probably why he pulled the little stunt with getting the name of the form wrong. He knows very well what the form-number was but if he appeared to foul it up it might get Chuck interested in looking over the papers to ensure Saul has his bases covered and has crossed all of his T's and dotted all of his I's.

That sorta seems like a running theme of the show though. There's a lot of stuff that requires patience, and they aren't afraid to show it.

That's also a good point, that Saul is trying to help coax his brother out the door by leaving him legal work to do so he focuses on getting back to work more than his delusions.

Hadn't noticed it before. New car shine wearing off a bit now, I suppose. I hope the producers realize that and quickly adjust the episode internal pacing accordingly. Casual viewers might start fiddling with their remotes.

So did anyone watch 'Rico' ?

I did and it was awesome. It seems that Chuck getting involved will likely be a problem for Hamlin. Hamlin is a complete dick and I think eventually things are going to get really bad for Jimmy because of action by Hamlin. Hopefully Jimmy will change his name by the end of this season.

Yeah, I think the season is going to end with with Jimmy McGill adopting the name Saul Goodman, and the next season will be about him building the criminal lawyer behind the name.

Probably. I think his brother is going to rejoin the firm and then ditch him and take credit for the whole nursing home case.

We get the big hint at the start of the episode that he has no respect for James as a lawyer.

This last episode, Rico, was excellent.

I'm really enjoying the Michael McKean character. Let's see if Jirin is right...

I hadn't been liking the Chuck storyline (that didn't involve Jimmy) much at all until Rico. I think we all know that it is highly unlikely that the nursing home case will end well for Jimmy.

I think Jirin's idea, that Chuck will take the case and rejoin his old firm and leave Jimmy high and dry is quite believable, unfortunately. I really have liked the two brothers' relationship.

Wonder if Chuck's forgetting his "illness" while working will finally convince him that he doesn't have some rare disease but is just crazy.

Is there something romantic going on between Jimmy and the female attorney? I can't tell.

Another excellent episode. Love the cinematography in this show. It is a lot like BB's which was one of the many great things about the show I loved.
