Best writers?

I'd like to add Russell T. Davies to the list

*ducks tomatoes*

Joss Whedon... JMS... I wasn't familiar with who wrote Farscape and Angel but them too...

What happened to Alan Brennert?

He hasn't worked in film/television (or at least, had something produced) since he wrote a couple of episodes (one good, one bad) during Enterprise's final season in 2004-2005 according to IMDB. Wikipedia mentions a couple of historical novels he's written since.

My understanding is that those historical novels were quite successful.

George R. R. Martin.

He wrote one episode of Game of Thrones, so he qualifies.

Not to mention all his work on Beauty and the Beast, and various other tv and movie projects.

Martin had a long career in Hollywood before he became a hugely bestselling fantasy novelist.
