So explain 1 person out of 50 voting for Voyager. Oh--I get it--no true fan would place it first. Got it.
ETA: As for assuming things--to do proper research, you must start with a hypothesis, that's a point that you think is right. Then you try to prove or disprove it--that's all that I'm talking about here.

It's not a matter of being a true fan, it's a matter of 49 people of out 50 liking one of the other shows more. It's that simple.
An hypothesis should be an informed/educated guess. Part of this should include observations of previous occurance.

Pretty sure that people aren't going to lie, just to solicit participation.
Regarding hypotheses, stating your opinion can only serve to impair/skew the results thereby invalidating any conclusions that you're seeking to draw from the data.

It's called inference. You're inferring that shows that aren't doing too well in the poll, should be doing well, or at least better.
It's like me starting a poll saying what do you prefer, black or white? and then when people vote for white, me bemoaning "Where are all the people who like black, they obviously haven't seen the question!"
Your best bet is just to start it, leave it, and then collate the results. Don't get involved, it's the easiest way of avoiding the introduction of bias into the results.

"An easy choice..." and "Almost every poll here indicates..." only means that like-minded folks have gathered here, not they are right because they are the majority here. Perhaps polls that ask for questions that are bigger than one or two series can't work--in other words, there can be kick ass polls for each series in their own section, but polls about Trek as a whole don't work if fans of only 2 or 3 of the series congregate in one section.

You know, KayArr...
I'm pretty new here to. But from the exposure I've had to this message board, I can already say that you're probably the most annoying poster I've come across.
This poll's results don't jive with your opinion. And that apparently isn't fine with you otherwise you wouldn't be attempting to dispute them.
When you put anything up for a vote, there is always the chance that the results wont be inline with your expectations. If you knew in advance you couldn't handle that, you shouldn't have made the poll.
You accuse the DS9 fans of 'chasing away' fans of the other shows, calling it 'sad'.
Pathetic.
All I see are people coming into this thread, casting votes, and posting their vote publicly below.
The only person I see vehemently arguing about DS9 across the message board is you. And to make it worse, you're doing it having seen very little of the show.
If anybody is chasing anybody else off, it is you.
Ridiculous.

I'm not "assuming," I'm theorizing--I'm creating a hypothesis. Perhaps the trends you describe are true of real Trekkies who like all the series, and fans who like only one or two wouldn't describe themselves as Trekkies. That seems like a reasonable hypothesis.
