Best week of my life-- in Japan :)

My best friend came to visit me in Japan, we spent all of "Golden Week" (an unusual combination of 3 national holidays) running around the Kansai region (where I live). I spent most of the time focusing on my past job and now favorite hobby, photography-- and put together this video from the trip. Missed my old college buddy too!! Was the best man in his wedding! We took an overnight bus to Kyoto and watched DS9 on my laptop for several hours before it died :D. I hope you enjoy the video...

Yeah Kansai! It is a lovely part of Japan. Great video and choice of music. The images are a great selection. Did you get to the Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto?

Thanks guys! I still haven't been to Kiyomizu--- I'll make it on my next trip up there. When were you in Japan? :)

I used to live in a very small town called Takasago, about 2 stops down the local train line from Himeji. I was there for a year teaching back around '92. Himeji Castle and Korakuen Garden in Okayama were two of my favorite places in the country.

Awww great place. Himeji castle has been closed for renovation for some time. Were you teaching? What program were you with?

I was teaching for Aeon, are they still there? Left for personal reasons and moved over to Korea after a brief return Stateside. I've spent most of the last 20 years over here in Asia. I'll have to check out the renovation schedule on Himeji-jo, I'd like to pop over ans see what they've done to it. Have you been in Japan long? Teaching there?

Last I checked AEON was still around and actively recruiting, though GEOS just went bankrupt which resulted in a few of my friends without jobs. I was personally hired through the JET Program. I've been here for a year in July living in very rural Wakayama (village of about 2200 in the mountains). So I teach at 5 schools, 3 elementary and 2 JHS as the village's sole ALT.
