Best Watch Order STD and Short Treks

Hey everyone - I was on here from 2000 onwards and haven't been here for years. I'm actually pleasantly surprised this place is still around! Anyway, I want to show a friend STD and also the Short Treks but I was wondering if anybody has a really good suggestion for the order to watch them in. Preferably I'd like to have the episode the Short Trek pertains to follow immediately afterwards. Like the one with that alien princess and Tilly, I'd show the Short Trek immediately before as a little aside. Short of me going and watching every episode again, does anybody have a suggestion please? Thanks so much in advance - Brad.

In my opinion (and where I personally place them)

Runaway between New Eden and Point of Light.
The Escape Artist between Saints of Imperfection and The Sound of Thunder.

The Girl Who Made the Stars, The Brightest Star, Q&A, and Ask Not all happen before Discovery starts with The Vulcan Hello.

Ephraim and Dot covers a huge chunk of time and shouldn't be watched unless one has seen Star Trek III. The Trouble With Edward probably also takes place prior to The Vulcan Hello but I have trouble caring enough to worry about it.

Honestly, I'd just go with the order they aired. The firs season of Short Treks between Disco's first two seasons. Admittedly, this does screw up the cliffhanger the first season ends on, but meh. The second season of Short Treks is more relevant to SNW and doesn't need to be part of a Disco rewatch.

Here's my personal preference if you want to go chronological:

• “The Girl Who Made the Stars”
• “The Brightest Star”
• “The Trouble with Edward”
• “Q&A”
• "The Cage" (TOS)
• "Ask Not"
• Discovery season 1
• “Michelle Yeoh and Alan van Sprang's Section 31 bonus scene from Star Trek: Discovery”
• “Runaway” (hard to place, but I assume it happened during the season 1 finale en route to Vulcan)
• "The Escape Artist"
• Discovery season 2
• Strange New Worlds
• "Ephraim and Dot" (I'd skip in a Disco-focused rewatch)
• "Children of Mars" (same note as above)
• Discovery seasons 3-5
• "Calypso"

“The Trouble with Edward” placement is a little unusual compared to most other lists, but since it features a science officer leaving the Enterprise and we don't see Spock, I treat it as happening back-to-back with "Q&A" and assume Spock is replacing her.

Release order is always safe too, and generally easier:

• Discovery season 1
• Short Treks season 1
• Discovery season 2
• Short Treks season 2
• Discovery seasons 3-5
