Best two part episode ever

What do you think is the best 2 part episode from any show?

Trek has a lot of 2 parters that have a great first part followed by a lesser second part which brings down the overall effectiveness. For example Scorpion from VOY had an amazing first part but part 2 while not bad by any means wasn't on the same level as part 1. IMO the best is Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast from DS9, just excellent from beginning to end with some of the best dialogue from any trek show.

In Purgatory's Shadow / By Inferno's Light

The second part is in no way a letdown from the first. In fact, the teaser of By Inferno's Light alone is amazing and universe re-defining.

Without question TNG's "The Best of Both Worlds, Parts I & II."

It raised the bar on Trek and sent the entire franchise's popularity soaring to a whole new level.

No other 2-parter can lay claim to the fact it was directly responsible for bringing in massive amounts of mainstream viewers into the fold.

I am a huge BOBW fan but you are correct in suggesting Improbable Cause.

Can somebody list all the two part episodes so we can collectly rank them?

I'd say "Dark Frontier" could also maybe be considered a 2-parter since its shown in 2 parts in syndication and outside of the US

I'll rank my top 10 two-parters

1. Dark Frontier
2. Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast
3. Favor the Bold/Sacrifice of Angels
4. The Forge / Awakening / Kir'Shara
5. In Purgatory's Shadow / By Inferno's Light

Improbable Cause / The Die is Cast would be my pick. It's the most well written and flawless of all the two-parters.

Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast: Honestly I think it's a flawless two parter.

BoBW is great but I dont think the second half of the BoBW is as good as the first.

It is very good. My girlfriend wanted to rewatch that one yesterday (how awesome is that?!?! :D), because she read somewhere that the second part got some negative feedback. And I do see that it has some points that could be improved, but it's no way near as bad as some people claim it be. It had solid acting, a good plot and one hell of a bombshell being dropped about our man Bashir. Some nice effects finished the package.

Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast is also fantastic, really worthy of a rewatch soon I think. Probably my vote for best two parter, although I change my mind a lot. :D

And although I loved BoBW, I think it's not the Be All/End All that some fans make it out to be.

I personally thought that "Year of Hell" was a fantastic two - part episode that really stretched what the VOY crew was capable of doing.

Of course Best of Both Worlds is a classic.

I think the 'reset button' ending hurts Year of Hell in many fans eyes.

Best in the entire franchise goes to TWOK/TSFS. While the dialogue was lacking, especially in TSFS, I don't think you can portray the meaning of friendship any better.
