best Star Wars fanvid ever - nominations open

Pink Five

I actually prefer the sequel, Pink Five Strikes Back. The way they tie it into The Empire Strikes Back is brilliant, particularly when both she & Luke happen to crashland on Degobah at the same time.

Pink: "...I'm not a complete idiot."
Luke: "Artoo?!"
Pink: "Am not!"

The guy they got to play Obi-Wan is pretty good too.

Wow, I had no idea they'd done sequels! I just watched Pink Five Strikes Back, as well as Return of Pink Five 1+2. Do you have any idea when Volume 3 will be out, I couldn't find that information anywhere?

I don't know. I wasn't aware that they'd released any of Return of Pink Five yet. I've been a little out of the fanfilm game of late (and the Phoenix ComicCon Film Festival has shifted its focus from fanfilms to locally made original sci-fi/horror films).

BTW, I'd like to do a plug for my serious Star Wars fanfilm trilogy. (I play Jedi Master Bendeen in the 3 films and I co-wrote the 2nd & 3rd entries.) They're not available on YouTube but they are streamed on Vimeo on our website http://www.spiritsoftheforce.com/ . The proper viewing order is Spirits of the Force, Fool's Errand, & Reflections of Evil.

Spirits of the Force follows up on Kyle Katarn from the Jedi Knight video game. He returns to the Jedi Temple at Yavin IV. At the same time, Jaina Solo & the other Jedi begin to have recurring nightmares. (Also features a cameo appearance by R2-D2.)

Fool's Errand expands the saga. Jedi apprentice Kit Parson joins Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, & Master Bendeen on a mission to the planet Ond'os to investigate the shady dealings of former weapons trader Jonos Belot. Kit also finds himself beguiled by Jonos' slave girl, Celeese.

Reflections of Evil resolves the cliffhanger of Fool's Errand. Kit Parson, Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, & Master Bendeen race to prevent an interplanetary war. Kit also finds himself in a lightsaber duel with a most unlikely opponent. (Also features the acting debut of bestselling Star Wars novelist Michael Stackpole.)

I just noticed something cool about the John Williams Tribute: it follows the Star Wars system of assigning themes to characters. Other than the main theme (Indiana Jones), which is about Star Wars in general, each movie theme's lyrics are dialogue that comes solely or mainly from a single character.

And I might be imagining things, but there seemed to be an attempt to match the movie content to the character, like so:

Close Encounters of the Third Kind - Obi-Wan - mystical, mysterious, inspiring.

Superman - Han Solo - reflects his self-image.

ET: The Extraterrestrial
- Luke Skywalker - innocent, wide-eyed adventure.

Jaws - Leia Organa - self-explanatory. ;)

Jurassic Park - Darth Vader - a story about large, predatory, armored monsters who like to bite people's appendages off. :p

Theres quite a good few SW fanfilms like Star Wars Revelations that I would like to post, not too mention Chad Vader. However for now Brick Vader aka Snatch Wars...

How do I make it as a you tube link window ?

Put the link between [ yt ] and [ /yt ] but without the spaces in the brackets.

Cut and paste before you hit submit in case you have to do it over. I find the youtube code acts funky and sometimes just vanishes.

Cheers Temis, heres Snatch Wars...

Damn....I just read on Wikipedia that Stacey (Pink Five) has a cameo appearance in Timothy Zahn's novel Allegiance. I've read that and I certainly didn't notice.....I may need to do some re-reading.

Okay here are the ground rules for making the cut for the voting poll:

1. Must be linkable via our handy little youtube tags so I can put them all in one post.

2. Other than the ones I personally want to include :D, videos must be posted here and somebody else must say "wow, that's cool" or otherwise second the nomination. So second away, folks! I'll let this run for a bit and maybe do a poll over Labor Day and probably a little after too.

One more nominee!

Ryan vs. Dorkman 2

Coupla SFX nerds stage a fight in a tortilla factory that puts George Lucas to shame for creativity, humor, and believability (not so much spinning and jumping, just a whole lotta trying to kill each other). Favorite part. 4:11 - 4:23. Missed opportunity: Ryan (or was that Dorkman?) should have used the Force to send his severed arm holding the lightsaber flying at the other guy's head.

Okay last call for nominations. Chad Vader sneaks in at the last minute.

I totally 2nd the motion for Chad Vader. I missed a bunch of the middle episodes but still, never before have I been as emotionally involved in a webseries. Chad Vader is such an easy to root for guy. "I believe in you, Chad. I also believe in elves." Most webseries deliver on the comedy front but can't quite make you invested in the protagonists goals. This series does both. (Felicia Day, eat your heart out!)

Those guys always do superb work. They do great fight scenes without resorting to exotic multi-bladed lightsabers or burdening us with a perfunctory Star Wars story that no one cares about anyway. (The early 2000s saw a large explosion of a-Jedi-and-a-Sith-have-a-chance-meeting-in-a-forest-and-fight movies. It's like PWP fanfic that's slim on characterization and not particularly strong on the sex either.)
