Which season of TNG do you consider to be the best?

Tough call, every season had its good and bad episodes. The earlier seasons had more not so good then good. The top three seasons would be (in no particular order 4 5 and 6.

I put seasons 3-5 as the peak (best), with 3-4 being the ultimate peak.

I will say that each season brought a little bit different version of Riker. I enjoy laughing every time he swings his leg over the back of a chair to sit down during season 2.

3. there were some crappy episodes ("menage a troi" comes to mind), but overall, the best of season 3 was the best of the series.

Season Three by far...Offspring, BOBW part 1, Yesterday's Enterprise, Sarek, Deja Q, Who Watches the Watchers..Sins of the Father...and many others...best season by far IMO....

Does anyone agree that 7 had the most weird/silly episodes?

Phantasms
Sub Rosa
Parellels
Genesis (IMO the best of the weird episodes in S7, but still way off the wall)
Emergence
etc.

7 had enough very good episodes to rank it over S1, IMO... but it also had tons of weird, lousy episodes.

IMO, season 7 had a huge standard deviation of scores.

ST:TNG was at its best from "Q Who" in Season 2 to "Darmok" the second episode of Season Five.

"Survivors"
"Sins of the Father"

To name just the top ones that spring to mind.

Seasons 1 & 7 were basically junk. While most of Season 2 was crippled by the strike (four episodes short and four other episodes that would not have been made had the strike occurred).

Season 6? Hideously forgettable.

I wouldn't say all of Season 1 were junk. IMHO, the best episodes of season 1 were:

Heart of Glory
Conspiracy
