Best Season of TOS? The 2008 Edition

I thought we could do a poll for this, even if, well, it might only re-affirm what is more or less known.

Anyway, which TOS season, including TAS (as its fourth one), is the best?

Season one by far.

A toss up between season 1 & 2. 1 probably had the better stories. 2 probably had the better characters. (Spock wasn't uneven like at the beginning of 1 with the shouting and smiling. McCoy found his place in the Big Three friendship. Chekov came on board.) I went with season 2.

It was also a toss between 1-2, because they had so many good ones. They're also my favorite Trek seasons of all time.. However, I went with Season 1, because of "The City on the Edge of Forever".

I would rank them like this:

1. S1
2. S2
3. S3-TAS (tie)

Sometimes it'd be TAS over S3, sometimes it'd be S3 over TAS. Thus, the tie.

Despite "Balance of Terror" and "City..." being season 1 episodes, I voted for season 2 because I feel the overall quality is a bit more consistent and I like the feel of the season better.

Season One. It has most of my favorite episodes in it. Season Two is great as well, but for me it sags a little in the second half.

Agreed on the first part. I'll be back when I look at the ep list to see which is the better of the two seasons. I reckon it's pretty close.

Edit: Season two is the better. For me personally, five superb eps are in S2. S1 only has two superb ones.

They are both good seasons though. But S2 gets the nod.

I can't answer this poll as I have 3 episodes left of season 2 to watch. As of now, it's like separating 2 children apart just thinking about it.

Season 1 has a lot of great episodes (Arena, City on the Edge of Forever, Space Seed, The Galileo Seven, This Side of Paradise, Errand of Mercy) etc etc

But then, so has season 2 (Amok Time, Mirror Mirror, Journey To Babel, Trouble With Tribbles, Doomsday Machine, A Piece of the Action)

And I haven't seen The Ultimate Computer yet, which seems to be a big favorite around here This should prove interesting...

S1 for me, too.
I love seeing the actors find the characters in the early eps and then see the characters grow (more than in the other two seasons, IMHO). Plus it has most of my favorite episodes.

Season two. The most consistent season of the show. There are plenty of S1 episodes I love, and the season includes my favourite - "This Side of Paradise" - but it also has its fair share of duds. S2 curtails the quantity of these and is entertaining in almost every single hour.

No big surprises here. S2 has many many great moments, but S1 is the real king of them all. Everything was fresh and new, like nothing that came afterwards.
