SPOILERS will of course follow for everything up to and including tonight's S4 finale. We're 4 down and 2 to go at this point. Which season finale do you think was the best? Which offered the best on-island "in the present" scenes? Which had the best flashbacks or flashforwards? Shocking moments? Final scenes? and etc.

We've got "Exodus," the only finale to end on the island, "Live Together, Die Alone" with Desmond's back story and the hatch imploding, "Through the Looking Glass" with our first-ever flashforwards, and now "There's No Place Like Home," with the island moving, Locke in the coffin, and the Oceanic 6 making it off the island. Which gets your vote?

I have to admit I don't remember the details of the first finale, but for me this newest one is the best.

Yeah the previous finale had that GREAT last scene and reveal, but the stuff leading up to it wasn't nearly as mindblowing and fun and cool as what we got tonight. I mean, holy shit, that first hour was easily the best TV I've seen all year.

I've enjoyed them all, it's got to the point where the Lost season finale is my yearly Super Bowl, the big TV event I look forward to every May.

I'm giving it to season three, Through the Looking Glass. I loved Matthew Fox's performance in that episode, I never really liked Jack before I saw that episode but ever since I've had a love for the guilt-ridden Doc. And the twist was really great an well pulled off. There was enough hints that any diehard fan is wondering "Is this... the future? No... it couldn't be... could it?" but still vague enough for the casual fan to have their mind blown by the end.

"We have to go back!"

Season 4 but 3 is very very close. Desmond and Penny's reunion puts S4's finale just over the top for me.

They keep getting better and better. I voted for 'There's No Place Like Home' but "Live Together, Die Alone" was a close second. I can't wait for season 5!

I'm going to hold off from voting for now. Need to let all of last night to fully sink in first.

I voted for this season, tho S3 is pretty close. the difference is that Lookingglass initially enraged me, whereas No Place Like Home was a uniformly positive experience (if you can say that about an episode where so many people die.)

Okay, I think "Live Together, Die Alone" was the best so far. Looking back I think I found that one to be the most satisfying.

I definitely think season three had the best finale. It was a bit more focused. This season had lots of stuff going on all over the place and was a bit slow in parts (though it was still excellent). Plus the introduction of the whole flash forward just really blew me away.

"Live Together" remains the best episode ever made of LOST. It had one of the best flashbacks ever along with a rousing and epic conclusion to the season storyline. More importantly it answered a ton of questions. It set the bar for what the finales should be, a rousing conclusion that ANSWERS A LOT OF QUESTIONS.

"Looking Glass" was a pretty good ending with action, a great end to Charlie, lots of resolution, though not many answers. I didn't care for all the screentime devoted to the fake-out flashforward, however.

"No Place Like Home" was good but I'm still pissed off at it at the mo. Not much action, soldiers killed off in first ten minutes, very few answers, did not deal with promised things like the Statue.

"Exodus" was great fun but didn't answer squat. We didn't even find out what's in the hatch. At least it had Cerebus in it!

The whole thing about "talk to my father" or whatever for the season three flash forward, which everyone called bad misdirection, makes more sense now if Jack actually sees ghost dad before that scene.

I think he does. The flashforward from Looking Glass happens after the other flashforwards we've seen through the season.

^ No, I know the order of the flashbacks. I guess I should've said Jack will probably have an actual face-to-face with ghost dad before he goes nuts at the hospital.

The season 3 finale was pretty good, but I was following the live commentary thread and got spoiled on the flashforward about an hour in. Someone speculated that what we were seeing was in the future and so the twist at the end wasn't a surprise, it was a confirmation.

I thought this finale did very well at giving answers. It wrapped up the Oceanic 6 arc extremely well. It showed us the events leading up to Ben teleporting to Tunisia a few episodes back. I wasn't expecting that until next season. I didn't expect anything involving the statue, so I don't feel let down. I couldn't see them trying to reintroduce the statue so suddenly and then addressing it either fully or in any real depth in just one or two episodes anyway. As for the action, I thought there was more than enough of it and it was pretty well paced, moreso than most episodes. Overall, this was a satisfying episode for me.

The problem I had is that all the answers were already hinted at in previous episodes, so that by the time the finale came 'round you already knew what was gonna happen, almost to the letter. The only surprises for me was Des getting off and Ben's injury being from falling not a gunshot. Maybe it's my punishment for paying such close attention and theorizing so much ;) but the whole thing was a little hollow.

See, "Live Together" explained just about every major question relating to the Swan, the Button, and Dharma, and Desmond. It gave me an expectation of the finale giving big answers to the season's questions. "Looking Glass" was good but I was expecting some fundamental answers on the Others that I didn't get... and now this year I was shirked out of fundamental answers about Jacob, the Statue, Abaddon, etc.

Also, the writers said in the podcasts or something that they would deal with the Statue this year. Also explain Jacob. Neither happened.

Still my favorite show though!

I'm torn between season 1 and season 4. Both delivered a hell of an episode. Season 1 was still new and there was such excitement--we had no idea what was coming. Season 4--well, we kind of had an idea what was coming, it was all telegraphed in earlier episodes. However, the execution was spot-on and we got a few really satisfying scenes--like Desmond and Penny.

Damn, I love this show!
