Best season 6 of all the series

On another note, TNG season 6 certainly did have episodes every bit as bad as Profit and Lace. "A Fistful of Datas", for one.

Who can forget the two parter "Birthright" and the season closer "Descent?" Birthright was a dull, pedestrian episode that should have never been a two parter. Descent continued the castration of the Borg that began in season 5 with "I,Borg".I wasn't a big fan of "Time's Arrow" either. While "Profit and Lace" was terrible,I still skip thru few episodes in this season of DS9 because they are all so good. With TNG, I skip many because they really haven't aged well.

TNG for me. It really did some great shit like "Chain of Command", "Relics", "Frame of Mind","Timescape", "Tapestry", etc.

DS9 botched Odo in the 8-part Occupation arc, Dukat got botched post-Waltz and numerous issues the writers brought up during the season (the Dominion ships gettin disappeared by the Prophets, etc.) didn't get followed up properly. but it did give me 2 of my top 5 DS9 eps and it had consistent quality.

Voyager started off really well (the first 4 eps, anyway), but it went inconsistent after that.

Nah, DS9 all the way.

Opening 6 parter, magnificent ferengi, ITPM, ToTP, sound of her voice, inquisition, His Way, waltz, Honour among thieves, valiant etc... Please have a look at these reviews

OTOH, I hated Far beyond the Stars (IMO, the most overated ep of DS9)

DS9. TNG was starting to run out of gas in season 6. Voyager was pretty much in the same boat. DS9 was very strong.

DS9. TNG was strong this year but it can't top DS9's best season. VOY's bright spots were few and far between in its sixth season.

Tempted to say TNG - one of its strongest seasons - but also a very strong DS9 season. I'll go with DS9.

Easily DS9 for me. It has a few missteps but overall it's in a league of its own IMHO. I find it way more complex, engaging and rewarding to watch than TNG, let alone VOY.

Just rewatched through "Sacrifice of Angels" which made me remember just how great the show was.

DS9. Though I would have been happier without the Prophets. Hey, I'll take the Ferengi and the Klingons over the Prophets any day.

I don't get this observation that people make about DS9 being miles better than TNG (especially when you compare them by seasons). Case in point - the comparison of the sixth seasons. As tomalak said, DS9's sixth season is completely overrated. While TNG had essentially the same number (grade-wise) of B and C episodes as DS9, TNG had more A episodes and didn't deliver anything on the level of the truly poor effort that was 'Profit and Lace.' My vote: TNG, without question.

Couldn't have put it better myself. :bolian:

Season 6 DS9 was all cheese and explosions.

^^ Sacrifice of Angels, Waltz, Far Beyond the Stars, In the Pale Moonlight, all superior to anything produced by TNG in its sixth year.

Re Profit & Lace, you've obviously banished A Fistful of Datas from your memory, it being so terrible an' all.

That's because Ron Moore was involved in the first few eps of VOY's sixth season.

DS9 wins this one easily for me. And season seven as well for that matter.

I can't remember a single episode from TNG's sixth season.

I don't want to remember a single episode from Voyager's sixth season.

DS9 all the way.

I'm going with DS9 here. Season 6 was the strongest DS9 season. Season 6 of TNG was very weak but did have a few really good episodes, Chain of Command and Tapestry being my favorites. I never really saw much of Season 6 of Voyager. The show was so bad at that point i just tuned out.

A ton of good and great episodes in S6 of DS9. My favorites are, of course, the 6 episode Dominion occupation storyline, and the Inquisition/PaleMoonlight duo of episodes.

Only weak points are a few bad episodes (aforementioned profit and lace) and a surprisingly underwhelming finale. Other than that though it was aces.

Enterprise. Season six (last year) was fucking amazing!

what?

What indeed. Outside of the occasional bright spot (like Peter David's hilarious "No, Let THAT Be Your Last Battlefield!") season six was pretty lackluster.

The three-way split focus was such a transparent attempt to ape Lost, and it was dramatically ineffective; while it was fun to see Trip command the ship, we all knew Archer wasn't going to stay at Starfleet Command and T'Pol was going to get out of the Dominion slave camp.

And that's another thing: for all the DS9 porn there was across the season, it was handled in such an arrogant, off-handed fashion (What were we supposed to think when the Bajoran wormhole collapsed)? I'm not even going to get into the guest appearances from the America's Next Top Model contestants and the inexplicable decision to spend three goddamn episodes on Betazed's induction into the Federation...

If you prefer TNG's season 6, that's fine. But with all due respect, that statement of yours is pure nonsense.
