Best Ready Room..

2 of 10

Captain
Captain
Janeway or Pickard, Sisko only had an office since he was on an Space Station, I don't recall ever seeing Kirks ready room, and did not really watch Enterprise, so I suppose this is going to have to be between Pickard and Janeway, who has the better ready room. My choice is Pickard, love the fish in the wall and all the models. "The Line Must Be Drawn Here"... any room with those words spoken in it has got to be the choice :)

I'd have to go with Janeway's. Even though I think it is a terrible waste of space on a smaller ship like an Intrepid class, her's was much larger and more spacious. A much more comfortable place.

I suppose not much, I was thinking more of an Star Ship based ready room. If Defient had a ready I would have included it. There is something about seeing star trails going by your desk, that sets Star-Ship ready rooms apart from stationary offices, they even call it an office on DS-9...

Yeah it was spacious and she always had tea or coffee going about

Yeah but I'm still not sure of the difference. A ready room to me was always the Captains office (as oppossed to Picard/Janeways office). Plus DS9's office probably had a good view of the wormhole.

Sorry didn't mean to go off on a tangent. Janeway's is probably my favourite. Seems more "roomier" than the Ent.

That was the observation lounge not his ready room

Although it wasnt in the OP as you said you never watched Enterprise, got to say I liked Archer's more than the rest.

Archer's was a bit cramped (which I guess makes sense). Some cool pictures on the walls, though.

What's the difference between Sisko's office and a ready room?

Just t throw in an opinion, I'd say that a ships captains workplace is the bridge, whereas Sisko's was his office though it should count.

Janeways seemed the most comfortable, but for the kind of work space I personally like I'd say Archers.

Also, that was the Enterprise E. So your choices would have to be:

Janeway's
Picard's (Enterprise D)
Picard's (Enterprise E)

I'd go with Janeway's too.

Also this begs the question- how come Kirk didn't have one. Ready Rooms fell out of popularity during the 23rd Century but came back in the 24th century?

Archer's was my favorite followed by Janeway's, Sisko's and Picard's in that order.

Is the ready room the same as the captains office?

Well if I'm thinking of the right rooms, then in order yhet are:

Janeway's was bigger, and more comfortable.

Picard's was more of a briefing room, small, the captains desk at the end of room making him the focus of the room.

Sisko's was a bit more intimate, room for the senior staff and a view of the worm hole when the station turned his office to face it.

I can't think of Archer's Ready Room; and wasn't Kirks RR the room with the big odd shaped desk? The one that was used in Balance Of Terror and Space Seed?

Am I right in assuming that the room on the 1701D with the "Board Room" type desk was the Conference Room? Was the room on Voyager that had no windows also a Conference Room. And was the 1701's Confrenence Room the above mentioned room in BoT and SS?

I vote for Sisko's office.

First, I'm a major sucker for Cardassian architecture, which I generally find more pleasing to my eye than the bland Federation architecture.

But there's also a great advantage in his office, for someone with an ADHD-ish personality like mine: any time you get bored, you can look up and spy out the doors to see what's going on downstairs. As long as you're not obnoxious about it, it makes a great way to distract oneself momentarily without doing worse things like surfing the 24th century equivalent of the Internet or playing Solitaire... ;)

Didn't we see Sisko's "Ready Room" aboard the Defiant in "Sound Of Her Voice"?

I always thought that this was Sisko's Ready Room [TrekCore link] aboard the Defiant.

As for the best one between Picard and Janeway, I've gotta go with the Janeway; just for the spaciousness of her ready-room. A shame they still went ahead with the classic "briefing room" scenes, instead of using Janeway's ready-room to give it a different sort of feel.
