Best Performance? Worst Performance?

JoeyDeacon

Lieutenant Commander
Urban's McCoy was just superb - is there another way to play McCoy?

Pegg's Scott was just awful - another variation on a theme from the limited cupboard of Pegg's acting abilities.

I read that he cried when he saw the trailer, can't say I'm all that surprised, he must have seen his performance.

Discuss.

I thought Karl Urban was amazing as McCoy.

I wasn't too impressed with Zoe Saldana. She didn't really do anything or have a clearly defined character besides being Spock's girl.

Given the fact that she had more to do in a two hourmovie than Nichelle Nichols did in 79 episodes of TOS, i think they did a fine job.

I really liked McCoy and Chekov, thought they were great. I know some didn't really like Chekov, atleast among the group I went with, but I thought he did a good job. Actually, I don't have much negative things to say about anyone. I wasn't very taken with the villain Nero, however, but then again it didn't really seem like I got a lot of time to see him to properly rate him.

I didn't spot a bad performance in the bunch.

Well, wait a minute, the Vulcan bullies in Spock's childhood weren't emotionless enough for me.

I thought Urban's performance was excellent and the gave the most seamless believability that I was looking at a younger version of a TOS character. That said, I felt Zoe Saldana gave a strong performance. Her character was also nicely "updated" to fit better with the times. Pine managed to capture the essence of Kirk without the slightest bit of imitation - the script aided this by making Pine's Kirk looser, more comedic, and rougher around the edges - which was tricky.

Overall, I liked most of what I saw.

I'd have to Say Quinto did a great Spock and Urban as McCoy ..they were the best.

The worst was Scotty...really it should of just been someone else since that person didn't resemble the scotty I know in any way shape or form. I know I've repeated this everywhere...but would scotty ever of asked for a sandwich before a scotch??? I think not!

I liked Chekov! In the reviews a few said he was annoying (accent)...so I just knew I was gonna hate him...but no that didn't happen...the opposite occured!

Bana as Nero was faboo....he looks better as Nero then he does as himself....sorry Eric but this is true.

I don't know. Scotty looked like he ate a sandwich or two from TOS to TUC.

Karl Urban gets my high ranks. After enduring an hour of nothing but 'jerks' from both Kirk and Spock, having Karl Urban as McCoy was the biggest breath of fresh air in the entire nu-cast.

I think Pine is a good actor, I just didn't care about Kirk at all. Period. Didn't like him. Just because you say he's going to do great things doesn't mean he's a likable person.

Zoe is a wonderful Uhura, but as a character she didn't do anything. No, really. She didn't do anything. That's some improvement.

Chekov and Sulu had their moments, but I would take Number One over any one of them any day.

Simon Pegg as Scotty was nice, but his womanizing talk about the Enterprise is something the real Scotty would never say. Scotty is the type who would look after the Enterprise just like a happily dedicated person would look after his/her loved one, not make some engineering metaphor on how he'd like to grope her. If the original Scotty ever heard that, he's punch the nu-scotty right in the freaking jaw. "Laddy, don't you think you should rephrase that?" indeed.

Quinto as Spock. Great job all around. Only problems were in the writing. Give him a good script to work with and he'll be as wonderful as Karl Urban.

Urban's McCoy was wonderful, Pegg's Scotty was awful.

I also liked Quinto's Spock. Different from Nimoy's, but still Spock.

Ben Cross had no charm at all and was very wooden as Sarek; that was a big disappointment. Of course, the character was also written so differently that he would not have felt like Sarek anyway.
