Best IDW comics?

That was referring to TLG right? I'm sorry, but with the way that was written I wasn't entirely certain.

That was indeed a Next Generation-based story. It's worth the price of admission to see what they do to Wesley's hair.

I've read 'em all and certainly wouldn't have missed any of them, but if I had to recommend some, the "Alien Spotlight" issues are great for variety of storytelling (esp. loved how "Andorians looped in lots of info from the DS9 Relaunch and ENT's "The Aenar"); "Klingons: Blood Will Tell" was an excellent premise, carried off very well; and I've been thrilled to see Arex and M'Ress pop in for scenes in the TOS issues.

That sounds good to me. The one story focused on Andorians discussed why we never saw them in the Dominion War and their new status in the Federation.

Andorians are my second favorite Trek aliens (right before Vulcans), and I'd like to see more of them myself.

EDITED TO ADD: I want to highjack my own thread here to ask another question I've been wondering about for the past few days. Does the TNG comic contract include the characters created in the books , like Tyrss, Chadhoury, or Pres. Bacco?

As I understand it, yes, it's having the TNG license that allowed them to do New Frontier comics for example, so if the license stretches to characters created for prose-only spin-off series it surely includes those used in TNG proper as it were.

Oh, cool. I wonder if that would also include Titan, SCE, and Vanguard too. I've hoped for those in the past, but I figured they would need their own contracts.

Titan has been confirmed as a possibility before (by the first IDW Trek editor I think so a couple of years ago!), Vanguard surely counts as a TOS spin-off so I'd guess that would be ok too. SCE could throw in a few problems as it has as some basis in DS9 as well as TNG, but who knows - They don't seem to be Too strict with the rules, there’ve been appearances by various DS9, Voyager and Enterprise bits and bobs.

I wish they'd get on with doing some Titan, I want to see that series so much!

That's the one. It was interesting to see how they handled TNG characters.

I'd avoid Year Four and The Enterprise Experiment - the latter was a real disappointment given the involvement of the legendary D.C. Fontana.

I'm about to start reading Blood Will Tell, if that's not a huge improvement I won't be bothering with any more IDW stuff.

I liked "Blood Will Tell". It was one of the few Trek comics/graphic novels I picked up. An interesting take on Klingon/Federation history, and the artwork appealed to me.

Halfway through Blood Will Tell now, and I have to say I agree with you, it's a huge improvement over the first two IDW's I read. Excellent stuff, particularly if you love TOS
