Ok - The Golden Globes have inspired me! My own made up award with a stupid name - ST-Emmy!
Our first category is male guest actor for season 1:

What can I say, how can an actor possibly top Mark Lenard's incredibly complex portrayal of the Romulan Commander? The other pertrayals were good, but Lenard's stayed with you. That he wasn't given greater aknowledgement during the original run just goes to show how skewed the media is against science fiction!

^ Gotta agree here. Everybody else was two dimensional compared to the Romulan Commander.

As much as I like Gary Lockwood as an actor (he was great in 2001:A Space Odyssey) I gotta go with Mark Lenard. I thought the Romulan Commander was more likable and worthy of my respect than Sarek ever was!

Nice idea! I'm tempted to pick Lockwood but I'd have to go with Arnold Moss. The scene in which Kirk interrogates Karidian in his quarters is TREK at its best.

I voted for Ricardo Montalban - so smoothly played - especially the scene with McCoy in sick bay with the scapel.

all of the listed actors are great, but i voted for mark lenard in "balance of terror," really a fantastic performace.

i'd also put in an honorable mention for john warburton as the centurion from BOT - he and lenard were fanastic together.

Interesting poll. When I saw Khan in the list I thought it would only be a contest for second place.

What of Lazarus? Robert Brown did a great job considering he was a last-minute replacement.

It'd be interesting to see a bigger poll on the main guest stars from every episode, if enough people would participate.

I wanted to limit this to what I considered the top 5 guest stars...so its quite subjective. Even though Robert Brown's portrayal of Lazarus was last minute, the episode itself was so weak I did not include him.
