Best gift you *gave*

For my wife, for Christmas this year, I wrote a poem and made a nice 3D landscape to go behind it. Actually, it was 2 poems, but if you alternated reading one line from the first, and one line from the second, it actually made sense. So, you could read it 3 ways. The graphic was pretty, too.

I got it printed at a print shop, put it in a nice frame, and sent it to her. She didn't know what to say. She was surprised to learn I did it all myself, though. She thought maybe I'd bought it like that. I guess that speaks to its quality, though. She loved it.

My girlfriend *loved* her Mario Bros. Wii game, and my sister really liked the Stargate coasters I got her.

My brother just got me those coasters! I really like them too.

Those are awesome. But while I was looking around that site I found the Serenity replica. Now that is AWESOME!

I bought my girlfriend a vase from Crate and Barrel for her office and promised her that I wouldd buy her a flower bunch and one artificial flower once every six months. That way she has fresh flowers at the office for six months and after that she has a set of artificial flower to go with it.

For my cousin's birthday in the early ninties, she had wanted a specific skipper doll that I had(she couldn't stop playing with mine she loved it so!) so I went to KMart in TX, and got Mom to buy her the doll for her birthday. When she opened my present, her eyes literally lit up and she gave me the biggest hug! Then when her friends left later, she pulled me aside and said: I wasn't gonna say anything until after all of the other guests had left. But your present was the best birthday present I have ever gotten! Just those two sentences left me speechless and I felt pretty damn good that I was able to put a smile on her face. She and I were so close and I loved playing with her..our other cousin was jealous of our relationship and was always trying to get attention as a child. She threw fits to get her way and her mother let her get away with murder.

Those who read "the needle and thread, thread", will know it was the tail coat I got for my son and re-lined with great pain, angst and loss of sleep. I'd never done anything like that before and at one point I was close to crying with frustration. But the delighted 'drop-jawed' look on his face when he opened it was worth the hours and it was very proudly given it's debut at a party in London for NYE.

I think it was the hug that I got afterwards that made my Christmas.

Mum and Dad also loved the book and dvd I gave them ~ little knowing that in a couple of weeks time I will be borrowing them

My wife had been criticizing me for days for wrapping what she called "a box of air", so I was very much looking forward to her reaction when she opened it. When she did, it *was* empty, but taped to the underside of the box lid was an envelope, and inside that were a pair of tickets to Trans Siberian Orchestra. The look on her face was just priceless when she finally read the tickets and the spark of comprehension appeared!

We went to the concert this past Saturday in Birmingham, and I have to say, it was *AMAZING*! That blew everything I've seen out of the water, including the Pink Floyd concert back in 1994. My wife's first reaction after it was over was to quote the Incredibles: "That was totally wicked!"

My brothers and I got my mother an Ipod touch for her last birthday (her 50th in fact.) She absolutely loves it, and is almost never parted from it. It's funny since she's so technically deficient, but loves this little gizmo. It makes me happy that we were able to give her something that she's put to such great use.

Apparently the best gift i've ever given was this past xmas, bought my 25 yr old the complete set of The Sopranos, which he had never seen before. He said he's totally addicted and has to keep himself from going through an entire season in one sit-down!
