Best game music

Yeah, I know, we have these threads on a semi-regular basis, but I was sitting here with this cranked:

And I could help but start another one, in memory of how awesome that C&C: Red Alert soundtrack was (and still is, all these years later). Some other great songs from that soundtrack were "Big Foot," "Face the Enemy," "Crush," and "Mud." Really, the whole thing was great at getting you in the mood for epic tank rushes.

On the more modern end of things, I've been captivated by the World of Goo soundtrack of late. A couple favourite tracks, "Regurgitation Pumping Station" and "Best of Times:"

I love a lot of music from the Final Fantasy games, especially VI through to VIII.

Seconded on the classic Sonic games, too. Sky Chase Zone is music I can chill out to anytime.

Civilization 4, as mentioned earlier, has great music. The Curse of Monkey Island has very good music too (the other Monkey Island games too, but not as good as Curse).

Well, my favourite music comes from my favourite series, the Zelda series. It's pretty much all brilliant, but I think my favourite from OOT is:

My favourite game of all time is Majora's Mask. It's an absolute masterpiece, and thinking about it always fills me with nostalgia. I could pick at least 10 tracks from it that I absolutely love (also worth checking out the Observatory, Milk Bar, Song of Healing, Last Day and Alien Attack music), but as good as any is the Giant's Theme.

The first game I got for the Gamecube (back when that was a new and shiny thing to have) was Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, which though flawed, still means a lot to me. And both it and Sonic Adventure have terrific soundtracks, including these two main theme songs by Crush 40:

One game I recently completed for the second time (a couple of years since the first time) is the first Metroid Prime. I've yet to complete the second and don't own the third, but if they're kept up the quality of the first, it's a fantastic series with terrific soundscapes. My favourite is Phendrana Drifts:

Yes, that became one of my favourites since I played Chrono Cross a few months ago. I was hooked on the game from the first time I heard that music at the start of the game (the video helped too ).

My picks come from the usual list of sources: Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Legend of Zelda.

I really liked the music from the Fire Temple (the original, chanting version) and Forest Temples from Ocarina of Time:
