Best Animated Action Series of Past Decade

2004 to 2014. Action Adventure, not comedy.

So that rules out Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Justice League...

1. LEGEND OF KORRA: it took awhile but this show has supplanted A:TLA as my all time favorite animated series.
2. AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER: love, love, love this show.
3. STAR WARS THE CLONE WARS: wins just for being Star Wars. Lots of really great episodes. A few stinkers too though.
4. Justice League Unlimited: wonderful show. the high point of the DCAU.
5. Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes: with Avengers Assemble on the air now I appreciate this show so much more in retrospect. I particularly loved adaptations of recent stories like Civil War and Secret Invasion.
6. Spectacular Spider-Man: best Spider-Man adaptation ever.
7. Young Justice: loses points for following C list characters but there's so much continuity and character appearances in this.
8. Batman Brave and Bold: I didn't think I would like this cartoonish take on the Dark Knight but it won me over with all the character appearances.
9. TMNT 2012: another show I didn't expect to like that much. great humor and animation.
10. Symbionic Titan: just for the amazing animation!

I feel like I'm forgetting something important... I'm not ranking Rebels as it's only seven episodes old. I also won't place the Clone Wars Micro Series since it was only three hours long but I loved that to pieces.

Hmm, I did like Titan a lot... but I dunno if I would put it in the top ten... also it only lasted one season...

IMO the fact that it was only a season doesn't take away from how great a show it was.

I wouldn't put GL in a top ten personally... I dunno to me for a series to "count" it has to run at least two years. That's why I would never rank Firefly on any list. It was never on long enough to prove itself as good or bad; it's easy to do a dozen episodes. Doing 100 episodes? That's the real test.

Count me in for a vote on Brave and the Bold as someone else who didn't expect to enjoy a lighter tone on the Dark Knight but was sad to see it go along with its admiration and enjoyment of every era of the Batman mythos.

Looking through the lists on Wiki, hopefully not missing any, here's what I have

Batman Brave and Bold
Clone Wars
Green Lantern
JLU
Korra
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated (does this count?)
Sym-Bionic Titan
Teen Titans
The Batman
Young Justice

Honorable Mention: DC Nation Shorts(Batman of Shanghai, Batman Anniversary shorts, Amethyst, Wonder Woman)

In the Mix
Beware the Batman
Generator Rex
GI Joe Renegades
Marvel Animated Series
Megas XLR
Motorcity
Thundercats
TMNT
Tron Uprising

"Spectacular Spider-Man" I found to be a snore-bore and so many of the episodes were poorly remade versions of previous series episodes----the worst Spider-Man ever. The 67 and 94 series are still the best Spider-Man series ever.

Just off the top of my head:

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Batman: The Brave & The Bold
JLU
Young Justice
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
Teen Titans
Green Lantern

My top two choices:
SW: Clone Wars
The Legend of Korra

The rest (in no particular order):
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Spectacular Spider-Man
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
Young Justice

They weren't the best, but I still enjoyed:
Green Lantern: The Animated Series
Wolverine & The X-Men
Beware the Batman
SW: Rebels (this hasn't been on long enough to make it to the other lists, but it has potential to move up)

For me:

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (Probably the best Marvel based animated series done to date. Why they dumped it in favor of what Disney calls 'Marvel's Avengers' is beyond me.)

Young Justice

Justice League Unlimited

It's sad, but not unexpected, that no one else has mentioned Tron: Uprising. A wonderful show that had some really great action scenes.

it was alright. i felt some episodes were a drag but the last half of the season was really good.

Green Lantern did run two seasons, just like Young Justice.

My picks:

1. Justice League Unlimited:the perfect coalescence of not only the DCAU series dating back to B:TAS, but successfully respected and integrated decades of DC history without having to resort to the kind of horrible rebooting tactics seen in the printed versions every 5 minutes.

2. Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes: some viewed this as Marvel's stylistic answer to the DCAU, and that could be the case, but the series was not a clone. It was sharp, exciting, and took advantage of Marvel's storied character history/plots in new, respectful ways just as enjoyable (but not as dark) as JLU.

I believe I said that in reference to Titan, which only ran one season of 20 episodes, not GL or YJ :)
