Best and Worst End Credits Songs

The 80's were by far the worst offended for crappy "made for the film" tie-in songs in the opening or end credits. Especially when it came to horror films. "Fright Night" is one that springs to mind, from the film of the same name. The Freddy films had some absolute shockers, too.

"We're the dreeeeeam waaaarriors....don't wanna dream no more..."

You know the kind - those songs that are written specifically for their movies, and play over the end credits. (I.E., not Bond-style title songs, nor songs played during the movie itself a la Ghostbusters.) What are your best/least favorite? Here's some of mine...
Best:

1. "Gollum's Song", Emiliana Torrini, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkXbzffVl44

2. Closing Titles (Trouble Every Day), Tindersticks, Trouble Every Day
There's no Youtube video for this track, but here's a slightly different version of the same song from the same soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q9MY-tQbpw

3. "Love Song for a Vampire", Annie Lennox, Bram Stoker's Dracula

4. "Heart's Filthy Lesson", David Bowie, Se7en
(creeped me out almost as much as the movie itself, and that's really saying much. Not sure if it qualifies, though - it may not have been written for the movie?)

Worst:

"My Heart Will Go On", you-know-who, you-know-which-hilariously-overrated-movie. Ugh. :barf:

Dishonorable mention: "Sympathy for the Devil", Guns'n'Roses, Interview with the Vampire. If they wanted the song, they should have used the Stones original or some better cover version, the Guns cover just made me laugh and completely ruined the mood of the film.

Oh yeah...the 80s songs with their shitty anthems at the end!

All those ones with lines like "...it was cold and dark in the city and I had nowhere to turn..
or "..you can fight till the end, because you have your friends!.."

God those were awful!

+1 for "Extreme Ways", technicalities aside, its the song at the end of the movies, so it counts.

The only one that really stands out in terms of awfulness for me was the song that played at the end of GoldenEye. Most of the music in that film was pretty bad (except for the theme song and a proper version of the James Bond Theme that snuck in halfway through the film), but the song over the closing credits was pretty awful.

"Exit Music (For A Film)" from Romeo + Juliet is good too. I wasn't actually familiar with Radiohead before I heard it, it got me into them!

I like the Rage Against The Machine songs at the end of The Matrix & The Matrix Reloaded.

Wake Up & Calm Like A Bomb.

It's not a "real", lyrical song, but the best end credits song/music, IMHO, is Edward & Alex Van Halen's "Respect the Wind" for the end credits of Twister.

I liked David Bowie's "Heart's Filthy Lesson" at the end of Se7en.
Yes, great example! Love that song.

Also the aformentioned "Extreme Ways" at the end of the bourned movies is great, especially the Ultimatum remix.

Great song, always liked that. That movie has great music overall.

I feel so different because I love the music from GoldenEye, score, ending song and everything.

The end song from Goldeneye is bad, but we should all be thankful that the end song from TWINE - "I've Only Myself To Blame" - was ditched at the last minute, cos it's worse... It still appears on the soundtrack album though, rather than the hurried but far superior remix of the Bond theme that replaced it in the finished movie.

This isn't really on topic, but it doesn't really deserve its own thread either, so I'm going to post it here:

All this talk of James Bond songs has reminded me that the Bond movies have the coolest fanfare ever written.

Other movies and shows have cool fanfares. Star Trek, for example has its signature fanfare: dum da-DUM, dum dum dum-dum-DUM. DS9 and Superman both have great brass fanfares. And so on.

But nothing--nothing--in the history of cinema is quite so cool as watching James Bond pull off some ridiculous, impossible stunt, and hearing that signature fanfare: "na-NA, na-NAAAAA, na NA-NA!"

That is all.

I like how I couldn't tell exactly what fanfares you were talking about till I did the "dum da-DUM, dum dum dum dum-DUM" out loud!

Wake Up & Calm Like A Bomb.

I was gonna say those two as well, but since they weren't written specifically for the Matrix films, I figured they didn't fit with what the OP was looking for.

Still great tunes though.

Rambo: First Blood Part II had some dreadful song at the end. Oddly, I kinda like the song at the end of First Blood.

was that the one by Frank Stallone or was that from Rambo III? i watched both of those for the first time earlier this year and recall one of them having this song at the end that seemed like some terrible, very 80s demo tape and wondering why it was on such a big movie then seeing Frank's name and thinking "oh that's why."
