Best And Worst B Stories?

True, but DS9 is an American show. Usually shows are intended for the first audience of their own citizens, if people elsewhere like the show that's great. But it'd be hard for writers to produce "natural sounding dialogue" to help those not of the intended audience's culture. Thankfully sex jokes are universal, I'm doing a marathon of "Are You Being Served?" later today...
I remember an episode of Red Dwarf where, I think it was Lister, describing a relationship with someone who was 17 after one of the other characters made some comment. Being in the UK, nobody would bat an eye. An American would double-up on laughing at the punch line because 17 is still illegal (in the US), if not understanding that level of UK law.
I saw "Hippocratic Oath" the other night on H&I. The B story in the episode was terrific. I got a kick out of seeing two testy Trek characters, Odo and Worf, butt heads. Grouchy vs grouchy.
Worf acted like he was the new sheriff in town. I thought it was great that Odo didn't put up with Worf's crap. He defended his turf and told Worf to mind his own business and to stay out of his. I am not a fan of Worf, so I thoroughly enjoyed seeing that.
At the end Worf had to eat some humble pie after he ruined Odo's sting operation. Worf learned the lesson that DS9 is not like the easy going atmosphere of the Enterprise.
Btw, the A story about Bashir and O'Brien stuck on a planet with renegade Jem'hadar was terrific as well. An excellent episode overall.

A thing is not okay or right just because it's legal. So why does the law come up here?

This is one of those matters where people feel a thing is wrong, without necessarily having reasons. They just feel it. I don't know what problems are caused by these kinds of age gaps, but I assume there are some.

Sisko is no dictator. If Jake is that adamant, Sisko has to deal with it, in a way that won't alienate Jake.
I just rewatched "Treachery, Faith, and the Great River" because I had been wanting to see the O'Brien/Nog B-plot even before I read this thread. While I don't dislike the A-plot, it just isn't anything special. But I could watch a whole episode about them navigating the great river.
To me worst is Hippocratic Oath.

Worf sometimes acted like a baby on TNG too. Data even had to smack him down for it once.
It's obvious, but I think in episodic storytelling sometimes you need to hit the obvious beats to be satisfying viewing. I know I was curious about how Worf & Odo would clash over security from the minute Worf was announced as a DS9 addition.
