Best actor on ENT?

I am not Spock

Commodore
Commodore
I think Connor Trinneer takes the cake for this one. Just watch him in Cogenitor, The Forgotten, or the end of Terra Prime. He nearly made me cry when talking about his daughter with T'Pol in that end scene.

What do others think?

Wow, I thought it was going to be a poll.

Connor was very natural and consistent in the role of Trip. Honestly, I don't recall a single instance when he was out of character.

I don't think so. I think John Billingsley did the best with a "not much" character. I think if anyone gets the best actor award, it's him. Phlox could've easily been Neelix, but he wasn't.

I think overall the Enterprise cast was fantastic.

If we are leaving out Combs (who I think had better roles on DS9 to showcase his acting, no smear on Shran of course) I would have to with Billingsley as well.

Connor Trinneer, surely. I love Billingsley too, but that guy was always merely an obscure supporting actor material, while Connor had some real charisma which made him stand out from everyone else.

I would also go with Connor and John Billingsley. They are both wonderful, unappreciated actors, who did incredible work, even when given limited material.

Connor Trinneer for sure.

As for supporting roles, Billingsly & Combs... with a dash of Graham, but maybe my Soval-love is coloring my perspective there. :p

This is not to say that the rest of the cast didn't do a bang up job... just those fellas were a stand-out.

I'm with you guys on Billingsley and Combs as awesome supporting actors. Phlox could easily have been Neelix all over again, but Billingsley made him into a likeable, funny, eccentric character. Actually, Ethan Phillips was a pretty good actor, but maybe the problem with Neelix was more in the writing department. And Combs was great in just about every Trek role he did. He elevated even eps like Meridian and Tsunkatse.

John Billingsley did the best job with what he was given.

Though I was tunin' in for Scott Bakula & Linda Park.

Amongst the regulars, Billingsley by a wide margin.

Phlox was an animated, believable and interesting character.

Connor Trinneer without a doubt! Jolene Blalock was a close second followed by Scott Baklua third. Truth is, the entire cast was pretty good.

Ironically, I liked supporting actors on ENT, especially Jeffrey Combs and Gary Graham, best (e.g. their torture scene together in Kir'Shara).

From the main cast, my favorite would be John Billingsley.

Ditto what Middle man said I like the entire cast of Enterprise. Also Vaughn Armstrong,Gary Graham and Jeffrey Combs too.

Of the main cast, I liked Connor Trinneer the best. Of the supporting cast, I agree with Gary Graham. He was terrific as Soval.

Personally I'd rank Trineer and Billiingsley just about neck and neck. I think both actors brought a lot more to their characters--and to the characters that they interacted with--than might have been.

And yes, there were a lot of good guests, too. I'd say Gary Graham as Soval and Randy Oglesby as Degra were my favorites. We've already heard a lot about Graham, so let me talk up Oglesby.

Oglesby as Degra really made the second half of season 3 work for me. Without him tying it together, it really could have been a mess. Some of it's the character, but a lot of it is the actor. The scene where Trip confronts him in "The Forgotten" is one of my favorites in Enterprise. The way Degra pauses by the door, about to turn around and say something, then realizes that there's nothing at all he say and walks out...that makes the whole thing outstanding.

From day one, I thought Connor was the best thing on the show, closely followed by John Billingsley, Linda Park and Porthos. They were just always so good and natural, they made it look easy. Of course, Jeffrey Combs is phenomenally good too, how could you not love him?

But back to Connor, he's just got this very believable, genuine quality to his acting. I especially loved whenever Trip was angry or in some other way highly emotional about something, Connor had such a beautiful way of portraying it.

Agree and agree.

Everyone else was so-so.

I don't know. I think the entire cast was very good -- above average and certainly better than your average show.

Here, at ye old TrekBBS, I think Connor is over appreciated. I thought he had a fun character, the wise-cracker. When the writers tried to give Connor depth, I thought the actor failed at really delivering what seemed meaty. His relationship with his sister, for example, was just annoying. I never felt like, after Expanse, that Trip's sister shouldn't have died.

I think it's pretty easy as an actor to go "balls out" -- weep when your character is sad, yell when your character is angry, etc. What I think is much more interesting and dynamic is control -- someone who is really angry, for example, but restraining themselves enormously.

I never saw Connor show control successfully. And to me that makes the hallmark of a great actor.

As a Enterprise-induced Bakula fan, I have to admit, that lack of control also bothered me in his performance. Instead of being really angry, but only showing a smidge of it with the feeling he was really angry, I thought he overdid anger. I imagine it's hard as an actor to strike the right balance.

On the other hand, Phlox delivered loaded information with poise and ease. He, for example, casually mentioned T'Pol took trellium for Trip, almost as if the information was unimportant.

I will also say this -- I am thrilled Bakula has done so well after Enterprise and am sad that many of the other actors haven't made it to prime time or the big screen.
