Bessie.

You beat me to the punch. That was the site I was going to link. (Though I must admit I just learned of this resource within the last year myself.)

Sincerely,

Bill

^Well, I just found it moments before I posted it. ;) I looked up Bessie on the TARDIS Wiki, and there was a link to it.

It'd be quaint to see Bessie show up in the new series. I can imagine UNIT keeping the thing in storage should the Doctor ever come to claim it. Or barring that, the Doctor finally decuded to take it with him, materializing the TARDIS around the lil' roadster...and promptly "losing" it deep within the bowels of the police box.

I haven't read any of the "original" novels, but in one or more of them I think the 8th Doctor kept a VW "bug" in a corner of the steampunk/gothic console room just in case he needed conventional transportation.

Sincerely,

Bill

Bessie was mothballed after the Doctor's last days operating as UNIT's scientific advisor, but was brought back in the 1989 serial "Battlefield." To bring it back now and in the same manner as before would seem unncessarily repetitive.

Yeah, but would any of these new fans appreciate the moment when she goes rolling down the street? Being an old time Pertwee fan it would bring me to tears.

Only to those who were watching then. Plenty of current viewers weren't.

Oh i can just see it all now, if they were to bring back auld bessie for todays doctor....

Cue sad music, as the camera pans down to a overturned Bessie, it's wheels spinning in the air, the engines revving uncontrollably...... underneath the Doctor lays trapped, mortally wounded in this, his 13 regeneration........unable to speak, his blood soaked hand reaches into his pocket and pull's out his psychic paper......he hands it to his distraught assist who is kneeling at his side.......fighting through tears she opens the pad........two words are all that appear......."Fucking potholes".:lol:
