Bernard Cribbins, who was Wilf in nuWho, a role which he seems to be reprising for Russel T. Davies’ return to the show, and who was in Daleks’ Invasion of Earth, has died at the ripe old age of 93

Veteran actor Bernard Cribbins, who narrated The Wombles and starred in the film adaptation of The Railway Children, has died aged 93, his agent has said.

A statement from Gavin Barker Associates said: "His career spanned seven decades with such diverse work ranging from films like The Railway Children and the Carry On series, hit 60s song Right Said Fred, a notorious guest on Fawlty Towers and narrating The Wombles.

"He worked well into his 90s, recently appearing in Doctor Who and the CBeebies series Old Jack's Boat.

"He lost his wife of 66 years, Gill, last year.

"Bernard's contribution to British entertainment is without question. He was unique, typifying the best of his generation, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him."

No.

Damn... This slapped me harder than I expected. I'm sitting here a bit...numb.

I wonder if all his scenes for the "special" were completed, or will they need to alter the script?

I wonder if they might have to do a catch up scene. The Doctor says goodbye to Donna and her family ending on a good note. We fade to black.

A new scene where Donna's family and the Doctor now at Wilf's funeral.

Dammit. The last few weeks have been BS. Still, 93 is a pretty good run.

Don't forget, the man was a singer back in the day.

RIP

I don't know his non-Who work, but he's probably the most memorable recurring (non-companion) character in NuWho (since I count Jack as a companion), and he was always great.
