News Benioff and Weiss Leave Star Wars

yes reshoots are commonplace.. especially for big films.
But reshoots with a new director after 80 percent of principal photography is another matter altogether.
That there had been four projects in a row that have had these kind of huge projects.. now 5, that is ALL pointing to a failing at the leadership level

I bet you masturbate while typing this stuff.

Given the reactions to the last few seasons of Game of Thrones, I'm glad to see them go.
This one is definitely not Kennedy's fault at all, they simply ended up getting a better deal from Netflix.

*Permanently leaves thread*
I mean, the news broke last night that B+W left Star Wars. That's it, what else is there to say? News is news. This isn't some thread where you can spend a hundred posts debating whether Goku could fight Superman.

They gone. Star Wars will move on without them and they'll move on with Netflix. The end.

re: the topic of the thread:
Yeah? Good.

GoT took a nose dive after the GRRM bumpers came off (not that you can blame them that they ran out of books; who knew going into this that GRRM would be eight-years-and-counting on the next book.)

I wonder if game of thrones should have had its own forum... it sure pops up a lot in every discussion.

Given the hyped GOT prequel looks to have just been cancelled, maybe D&D scrap their Netflix contract too and return to the GOT universe.

note: it's not just that they left to get a better figure at netflix

if you believe that's all it is you are naive.
Contracts were signed. so clearly there is more going on that they aren't telling us.
You just don't go "Oh I'm so sorry I forgot I had a contract with you and signed a contract somewhere else.."

Also.. also.. Iger came out squawking about the films in the early 2020's that he said these guys would be directing.. and this Iger interview or announcement came AFTER these idiots signed the deal with Netflix

So they signed a contract with Lucasfilm first!

Most contracts have clauses that allow for negotiating out.

And stop accusing people of being naive. It is not additive to the conversation. They were clearly able to negotiate out of their contract with LFL and left on good terms. Too bad, so sad, goodbye to them.

None of this is automatically bad news. Nor is it naive to think they didn't want to pursue Netflix and asked to be let out. It happens. It's called business, not indentured slavery.

Yes but the responsibility of a leader is to vet people before you hire and then announce their hiring. Stop with this. They quit a WHOLE trilogy, one that they had creative control of.. it's not just oh "creative differences"

how is a leader to predict a bidding war? How do you do that? That is ridiculous.

This whole thing is filtered through a "I hate Kathleen Kennedy for reasons" lens. It's absurd as it is ridiculous. The standards of behavior expected for Kennedy are unhinged and would not be expected of any other leader in the industry.

Nope, it's an absurdity. And it can't be taken seriously.

Your talking about a bidding war, to negate a contract that wa already signed? Stop with this?
idk what happened but the official statement is BS.. there is more to this

do you not know what a contract is or how it works? If I sign a contract to buy a car, and then I just buy another car.. well.. the first place can just point out my contact.. it's a legal commitment.
Spell "commitment"

Ok...there is more...and that matters how? How does this impact our day to day lives? We will never have the full story which is why condemning KK's leadership style based upon limited information is a fool's errand.

And impossible to take seriously.
