I agree. I mean, I didn't much like Roeper, he seemed to be gushing out catch phrases and I never considered him culturally aware or interesting but he is ten times better than this lyons guy, who's annoying, grating, pandering insulting and just plane awful.

You really have to wonder, what the hell was Buena Vista or Disney thinking in getting rid of Roeper and that other guy? Supposedly they wanted to boost ratings with a more magazine-type format, but all the outrage has caused the ratings to tank. They should probably just bring back Roeper, but at this rate the show is probably just going to get canceled. Yet another nail in the coffin of film criticism.

"The Sarah Palin of film criticism" should be a compliment. Lyons must have a high approval rating and admirable personal qualities. And he's gotten where he is through hard work.

I just coughed up my drink reading that site.

I erecently was in disbelief when I heard him reviewing a recent horror film I forget the name, but I believe it was the one with Liv Tyler, a low budget shocker picture. Anyway when it came to be his turn to speak, he kind of grimaced with a dumb wincing smile at the camera and said (and I can't believe I heard this from a film critic) "I hate horror movies.

Obviously that was a real emotion for once. Sure I am Legend may qualify as one, and we all know he loved that, but it's also a hollywood concoction of star power, Akiva Goldsman slapdash writing, and clever marketing, but when it comes to a real challenging horror film, Lyons is a real.. dare I say it.. pussy. No, that's exxactly the word for him.
He's a big pussy. And i never use that word.

Ebert used to be really good, he would analyse a film on its own terms even in the three minutes he had to do it. He and siskel really were passionate philosophers.

You betcha. And I imagine he can see Rex Reed doing brow-lifts out his front window every morning, just like Palin and her russkie buds (or maybe it is another kind of bud she has to enjoy these visions of hers.)

He had a thing on the radio called "Sixty Second Preview," and notice that the title doesn't say "Review." And he's gotten quotes on movie ads for what he thought about the movie based on the preview!!!!
