Belz...'s USS Gibraltar and other designs

Belz...

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Hello,

After working on my various Enterprise designs (see my signature) I decided to go back to a hand sketch of an Excelsior variant I made a couple of year ago, the Gibraltar. It's just the side view, but I wanted to share it here.

I also plan on using this thread for other designs over time. Hopefully I won't get in trouble for necroing it if I do.

I quite like this one! Usually I like the Excelsior style shapes a lot more than the Constitution style.

Regarding the threads bit, I'd suggest you stick to just one thread with all your work in it. Makes conversations and discussions more natural IMO. :)

Yes but I figured that a single thread, with the OP and following posts talking about a single design, people might miss the new stuff unless they were already following it.

Thanks for your comments, though.

Okay so yesterday I did the front and back views but I wasn't satisfied so I removed them. Here is a much better version. I also updated the side view in the OP.

Ok some new stuff now, all older designs that I sketched and now wanted to more properly represent.

First off is the Renaissance, a class mentioned in the Star Trek encyclopedia but which we've never seen. I've made it as a contemporary of my Icarus design and of the subsequence Ambassador. The original sketch I made dates back to 2007.

Next up is the Rigel, another class mentioned in the encyclopedia. This one's kind of amusing. Back in 1987 when I saw TWOK as a wee boy and became a huge Trek fan, playing with my toys, in place of the Reliant I used my Galvatron (Transformers) toy. And, well, over the years this became kind of a design, and you can see some of the toy's features in there :D . Anyway, here:

Here's a side view with the port pylon and nacelle removed so you can see the Galvatron toy's gun handle... er... I mean, the towing arm of the ship. :P

Finally, here's the Champlain. It's a colony ship, which is the Star Trek version of an idea I applied back in 2014 to the Alien universe. The sketch for this (originally a battleship) dates to 2002 at the latest, but since all my scans started that year it might go back to 2000 or the late 90s.

I really like this design. Very streamlined and sleek.

Ok some new stuff. First is the Orion, the 'first' starship design of Starfleet under the Federation.

And based on the OP's Gibraltar I decided to do the Excelsior and Ambassador. You know, just for kicks.

I love your Renaissance design (I'd buy a physical model of that in a heartbeat!).

I also like your G1 Galvatron Rigel! I love it when other properties infer designs in another franchise! :)

Great work!

Here's a bit of an update to the Ambassador class.

The bit above the nacelle on the side view is the impulse deck seen from aft.

Well I hope you'll like this little thing, then. A small update on it: I've redrawn the deflector so it fits better with the rest of the design.
